I am 33 weeks pregnant!
I don't think I've written a pregnancy update in a while. This pregnancy is just flying by. I love this baby girl so much already and I am really, really looking forward to her birth! Everyone else here is too! I've been feeling really good, just really tired. Not too surprising.
I've had heartburn *really* bad- worse than any other time. I cannot remember a night that in the past 2 months that I have not had to take Tums before going to bed. I've tried twice this week not to take any and wind up waking up with severe heartburn and having to take some anyway. There's an old wive's tale that if you have a lot of heartburn, your baby will have a lot of hair. That would be fun. :) All of my babies have been pretty much bald so far. I had a TON of hair when I was born and so did my brother. I had another ultrasound (paid out of our pocket) when we went to the homeschool conference just for a gender check, and she is 100% definitely a girl. But anyway, she was able to show us that our baby does indeed have some hair! We could see little spiky hair floating around on her head! She said that was quite a bit for as far along as I was but I won't believe it till I see her in person.
My only other problem has been my hips. It seems they get looser and looser with every pregnancy. And they ache after sleeping about 7 hours every night. So I've been up earlier than usual because of it.
Otherwise, I'm feeling great! My baby is very active lately & I'm feeling all sorts of movement. I love this part of pregnancy! Judging by my past pregnancies, my baby could be here in 4-6 weeks! Alek & Josiah both arrived when I was 37 weeks pregnant, Emilia @ 38 weeks & Gabe and Gracie @ 39 weeks. I've yet to make it to my due date! I would like this baby to be born June 28. That's my grandpa's birthday & two days after our anniversary- maybe we can get in one more date before the baby gets here.
Here's some general pregnancy info for 33 weeks.
(got the following info and photo above here)
This week your baby may be anywhere between 17 to 19 inches in length and weigh more than four and a half pounds. Your baby could grow a full inch more this week alone — especially if he or she has been on the shorter side until now. Weight gain can range from a third more growth to a full doubling before the big debut.
The level of amniotic fluid in your uterus has reached its maximum, making it likely that you have more baby than fluid now. That's one reason why you're probably feeling lots of nudges and pushes — there's less liquid to cushion the blows. (Of course that means you're even closer to your baby now!)
If your uterine walls had eyes, here's what you'd see: your fetus acting more and more like a baby, with his or her eyes closing during sleep and opening while awake. And because those uterine walls are becoming thinner, more light penetrates the womb, helping your baby differentiate between day and night (now if only baby can remember that difference on the outside!).
And good news! Your baby has reached an important milestone about now: The development of his or her own immune system that (along with antibodies from you) will be able to provide protection from mild infections. |
