Friday Funnies: Randomness
I just want to take a moment to thank my children for helping me vacuum last Saturday. If it wasn't for the shiny glitter you scattered all about the carpet lighting the way, I'm certain I would've missed a spot.

Kenton doesn't ask much of me, so a few weeks ago, when he told me he'd like me to do family worship with the children on the nights he works, I gladly agreed. We've been pretty good about doing it too. However, I'm sure he wonders about my methods.
The other night when Kenton was leading family worship, the children begged, "Dad! Can you read Amelia Bedelia for family worship tonight? Please? Mom did! And we LIKE that book! Please, dad? Please?"
Oops. Busted.
p.s. We DID sing and pray the night I read that.
p.p.s. Kenton read Amelia Bedelia for family worship that night.

I don't talk on the phone very often. In fact, we turn our ringers off before we go to bed, and if it's a school day, I don't even turn them back on until we're done with school. There are enough distractions around here without the phone ringing. My poor mother was so pleasantly surprised when she called this morning and I actually answered the phone (children are at co-op).
My very good friend from Modesto that I miss very, very much called me last Saturday. I knew I'd be on the phone with her for a long time, catching up, so I tried to find a quiet spot in the house so we could talk. (quiet spot? with 6 children?)
I headed to my bedroom first, where Kenton had just drifted off to sleep after a long night's work. Jeanette was asking me about Julianna (whose name, by the way, I got from Jeanette's sister, Julianne!) and I was telling her what a sweet baby she was.
Kenton sleepily replied, "Yeah, she is."
I kind of laughed and thought he had figured out I was talking on the phone so went on to tell her that I thought she was our easiest, and that she was already pretty much sleeping through the night.
To which Kenton again replied without opening his eyes, "I think so too. She is."
I laughed and told Jeanette I'd better find another spot to talk to her.

A distraught Josiah (3) came running into the living room saying quite excitedly, "Alek! Obama is going to STEAL our MONEY!"
To which unmoved, straightforward, cut-to-the-chase Alek (11) replied, "No, he's not."
Josiah, unconvinced, replied, "Yes he is! Gracie told me!"
Alek then tells him, "He may raise our taxes, but he's not going to steal from us."
Too much conservative talk radio being listened to around here I guess.

Thanks for your comment. God is still in control, I just need to remember that. And, yes, I was so happy to hear about the way California voted! Have you read about how the alternative population is reacting? It kind of shows their true colors, doesn't it? I told Todd I wish they would all move to another planet.
Have a terrific weekend!
