That was adorable! I get such warm fuzzies when I see your children on home videos, Alyssa! Those were the same songs we learned in school when my mom taught us. She made us all learn every verse of hymns like "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" and now when we all get together--even just us kids--we sing it in harmony. It's such a gift to give your children! :) It was great to hear Dad singing along at some parts, too. I"m sure he has memories of those songs as a kid, too..
The other thing I loved was the way your kids are moving one another around as they sing. LOL! I think I can tell they're used to being photographed. Gracie saying, 'It's me, then Gabe, then you.." Very cute!!!
Finally--- Julianna is PURE DELIGHTFULNESS! She is getting soooo big!!
Love-
Lis
I caught all that jockeying for position. And Gabe fiddling with his pants. (Hmmm, no wonder you went to close-up.) And Alek *pretending* to play the piano-- or was he trying to tell you something? :-)
That was great Alyssa! It's such a delight to hear children excited about singing hymns. I was hoping to hear a laugh from Julianna and was glad you added that at the end. So cute! You have a beautiful family. Thanks for letting us take a peek in on your night.
That is a great idea to get multiple hymnals. I think I have that same hymnal, but I just have one. So, I occasionally play a song on the piano, but my kids don't pick up on the words much. I hope they do in the future. I might think of getting another hymnal or two.
Alyssa, How adorable! I loved "being a fly" on the wall! Your kids are just precious & quite the good singers too. Thank you for taking the time & sharing. (Oh, and thanks for stopping by my blog & posting!) Many blessings to you and your family. Love, Krista
The funny thing is, some of the things you noticed (Liz- lights, Bethany- Gabe's, uhm, nervous playing LOL!), I didn't even notice when I was videotaping! I did edit the video a bit to zoom in on Gabe (on the computer) because, man, the child just couldn't keep his hands off. LOL! (poor guy!) This was a total impromptu event- I had the camera out because they wanted me to videotape their "shows" they wanted to put on- the girls did a ballet, which I posted in another post, and the boys did a skit... that ended in a mishap for Josiah.... which is why I never posted that one... and which is also why Josiah was cuddled up with his dad, looking a bit sad.
Anyway!
Lis- so cool you have good memories of this kind of thing. We did family worship tonight & my children asked me not to sing during a song where there were two different parts. Does that tell you anything about my singing voice!? LOL! But I thought of what you said here as they were singing. :)
Bethany- oh, Alek... he always wants to play when we sing but the problem is, is he doesn't know HOW to play. I've told him that if he learns to play the songs BEFORE and not DURING the time we sing them, he's more than welcome to. LOL!
