Snowed In With Nothing To Do
Okay, so my title is a total lie. I AM snowed in but a mother of 6 (or 1 for that matter) never has nothing to do. It's 2pm and I'm just now having breakfast. A poached egg, piece of toast, glass of milk and the mint mocha Kenton brought home for me this morning. And it's been a very busy day so far.
The pups and mama dog needed some attention this morning.
Millie woke up puking. Sheets had to be washed. Bowls rinsed. Child comforted. Not too long after that she wanted to eat. She seemed much perkier so I gave her a piece of toast. She held that down long enough that I did let her have a cookie. She's been fine since.
Baby woke up. I was, um, a bit full, so I knew she was probably hungry. She nursed for at least a half hour and we were both feeling more comfortable.
I heard Josiah, who had just woken up, upstairs in the bathroom whimpering. Went up there. He was leaning over the toilet about to puke. Wanted to be held. Poor little guy. :( Snuggled him for a while. Laid a blanket down on the couch. Got him a pillow and blanket to put over him and put a large bowl next to him. He's puked several times and has slept on & off all day so far. He's a bit warm and pale looking. Very lethargic.
Everyone else seems fine... but you know how caring for pukies makes you feel like you're coming down with something, whether you actually are or not!? That's about how I'm feeling right now. Kind of bleh.
We're on blizzard warning until 10am tomorrow. While the highway is nice & clear (they do a pretty good job with the roads here), I would be deathly afraid of taking our big ol' van anywhere because of the roads we'd have to drive on BEFORE we get to the highway. So here we are, stuck. With PLENTY to do.
So just thought I'd add to more pictures to my winter collection here.
Okay, I just have to share this first one TAKEN BY ALEK. :) He calls it, "Sharks in the Rain" and he wants to enter it into the county fair's photography contest next year. Despite what he said the other day, I do actually make him laugh frequently. He saw the pictures that I took & named and thought it was so funny, he wanted to try one for himself. So he did. And this is what he got.
By the way, if you're sitting around with nothing to do (ha, ha) & would like to try this, it's really easy. Just put your camera in Shutter Priority mode and set it for 1-2 seconds. You may have to decrease your exposure compensation- I think I decreased mine by one full stop. Also, to get more in focus, use a high ISO so that your camera will choose a small aperture. If it shoots too wide open, the lines won't be as crisp. Oh, shoot, just put it in manual set up the same way. LOL!
Okay, so this one's called Code Blue.
Graded Paper.

Tornado Debris.

Armed Robbery.

Catch a Wave

Coffee Shop

LA Traffic

Fishing in a Crowded Stream

Little Dippers

C is for Christmas

And here is what you'd call Rainbowcicles.

Christmas Light Bokeh. For this effect, just open up your aperture, crank up your ISO (you don't want blurry bokeh- although isn't bokeh, by definition, blur?! LOL!), put your camera in manual focus and throw the Christmas lights OUT of focus.

More icicles.

Dripping icicles.

This one is a TRIcicle

And this one's a BIcicle.

Okay, gotta go. |
