How do you find time to braid Gracie's hair that way?? It's so cute. How's she doing, btw? All healed up? She looks so pretty in these. And Gabe is Mr. Handsome in his shorts and tee as it's snowing outside. I had to laugh because you'll find my children dressed that way as well even back in January when it was 20 below. :) And of course Julianna is SWEET as usual.
Lis- I watched a YouTube video on how to do corn rows. I thought there was some special technique but it's just little french braids. Gracie's hair is hard to do though because it is VERY thin and VERY fine and slippery. She's kept it in for several days now, just washing them like the rest of her hair. It looked better the night I did it. And it took a LONG TIME to do! LOL! We were watching Chariots of Fire (we had just finished a book on Eric Liddell) and by the time I was done, so was the movie! I couldn't believe it! (it's a LONG movie!) She goes in on the 18th for another x-ray. I think it's fine now though because she RUNS on that foot without complaint. ;)
About Gabe- lol! I know. And you should see how's he's dressed on this bright, sunny day. Long pants, hooded sweatshirt, socks...
Thanks Rachel! :) That thing Gracie's wearing is actually a splint type thingy. She fractured her toe on 1/21.
You know...I noticed something funny. The pic where you said it had just snowed yesterday, Gabe is wearing shorts.....and in the last one, Gracie is only wearing one shoe. I know...goofy things for me to notice, but they tickled me. :)
Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos with us. You have such an eye for portraits. Can't I bribe you with In 'n Out Burger to come take some photos of my kids?? :o)
Not jealous of your snow. We have PLENTY. Just jealous of your mad photography skillz!! LOVE it! How do you do it? The lighting/lack of shadows/crisp eyes... do you photoshop these? Or would you rather not give away your secrets....? :)
I love them all. What cute kids you have. I love the braids in your daughter's hair. And what a cooperative little baby you have letting you put her in a basket that way. I also love, love, love you window. I have ALWAYS wanted one of those windows. I have to remember that when eventually, hopefully, if this economy can improve, we build our house.
We also had snow, but it was about an inch and didn't stick to the roads.
With Lydia's frizzy hair I probably need to learn how to do various braids like that. It requires a lot of patience and that is not my strong suit at this time! :0
Wish we had some of that snow!
The pictures are so precious! Love, Eva
I loooooove the first one of the girls!! SOOO cute! Did Gracie grow her bangs back out already??? .... Kayleigh asked for bangs last time I cut her hair... she loves them..... I don't care for them on her though :( (Of course I didn't tell her that) ... I'm looking forward to them growing back out :P
Liz- I know! My children do not dress for the weather. LOL! As long as we're not going anywhere, I don't care too much. That "shoe" thing Gracie's wearing is her splint for her fractured toe. Hopefully she won't have to wear it after this Wednesday.
Yvonne- Mmmmm... In 'n Out Burger.. my mouth is watering!!!
Leah- I don't mind sharing at all! Ask me anything & I'll answer if I can! I actually got out my "hot light" to take these because the light coming in through the window was so strong & their faces were shadowed. Our house is like a dungeon most of the year so I use my hot light A LOT. If it didn't have a softbox over it, I'd say you'd get similar results with a lamp pointed at them but the softbox really helps diffuse and soften the light. It's all set up so all I have to do is plug it in, turn it on, point it how I want it & set my camera to "tungsten" white balance. I did photoshop them but mostly just to convert to B&W, resize/sharpen for web. Exposure was pretty good right out of camera. I spend more time on my B&W's than I do my color pics... I'm kind of nit-picky about my B&W's & like particular looks to suit the photo.
Marie- No, I haven't been on the SL boards much!
Thanks April & Antoinette! :)
Cathy- She was pretty cooperative at first but once she tasted freedom (pics in previous post), I had to work REALLY hard to get a decent shot. Most of my pics are of her crawling off or toppling over. LOL! I do love that window too. :) The snow we got that day didn't stick- we only ended up getting about 1/2 an inch.
Thanks Julie & Chasity!
Eva- I just did Millie's hair tonight! She has a bit more body to hers than Gracie. I'll have to get a pic of her!
Jennifer- Thanks! Yeah, Gracie's bangs are probably down to the tip of her nose now. I like Gracie better without 'em too & I'm even thinking about growing Millie's back (but I just cut them tonight!). I guess I'm a bad mom... I DID tell Gracie that I liked her hair better withOUT bangs. She is SO sensitive, I hurt her feelings. :( I tried telling her that not many people look good without bangs... *sigh* She eventually got over it.
Have to get off this to let a child do his typing lesson, but just wanted to comment real quick -
LOVE the photos of the kiddos, but especially the one of Gracie and Julianna in the window. My fave for this post. :) Oh, and could you PLEASE stop Julianna from growing????? With sugar on top? Thanks, sweetie!
