Day At The Beach

Posted in PhotoBlogging
We are having such a great summer! This last Saturday we spent the day at the Pacific Ocean with both sets of parents. We have so many great beaches around here- but this one is only just over an hour away, I can't believe we haven't spent more time there! I think that will change. This was Julianna's first visit to the *real* ocean. She loved it!

When we left our house, it was warm and sunny and when we got to the beach, it was overcast, cold & foggy. Oh well, we still enjoyed it.

I can't believe July's almost over. Our plan is to start school back up August 31st, but I don't even want to *think* about school yet! I'm so not ready to start. Like I said, we are enjoying our summer! I do plan to (someday) write up a post about what curriculum we're going to be using next year. As school approaches, I'm a little worried about what I'm getting myself into.

Anyway, here are some pics from our day at the beach. Argh! They're in reverse order. Oh well. This first one is my fave. My oldest 5 had just spent two nights with my parents before they arrived home to take off for the beach. They missed Julianna! (and Kenton & I had a great time w/ just one child for a couple of days- my house even STAYED CLEAN... until they got home!)

I'm loving that today it was 99 degrees there....and in these pics, everyone's wearing a jacket! So glad to hear that Texas isn't the only place where the weather changes that quickly!

Thanks you guys! :) You're the best! :)

Julie, I did very little to that picture. Probably the biggest thing I did was clone Kenton out of the background. But even that was very easy because he was far away & already blurred & in the fog anyway. :) A lot of time I burn the edges of my photos, however, with this one, I dodged the edges (making them whiter). I defogged this one (kind of funny how that term applies doubly to this photo) to give it more contrast & lightened it a bit and that's all. I'd be happy to send you the original if you want to see it! :)

Love, Alyssa

These pictures are incredible! You've got a gorgeous family and you're a marvelous photographer.

I can't imagine it being cold at the beach in July. (I understand how it could be, it's just totally foreign to me.) We were pleasantly surprised by our "cool" week at the beach. The highs were in the upper 70's and 80's. (Not upper 80's to 90's which is more typical for this time of year.)

Thanks for visiting my blog!

beautiful pics, alyssa!

we were at the beach yesterday, and i made my kids & neices throw buckets of water in the air so i could attempt to "recreate" a photo i took of spaz 2 yrs ago. i have yet to get the pics on my computer, but i don't think i got anywhere close to the photo i was trying to imitate. i suppose it was one of a kind. (i posted it last aug or sept.)

what version of photoshop do you have? i really want cs3 or cs4 as opposed to just photoshop elements, b/c i want to get into graphics as well-- but it is really hard to justify spending the $600 or so it would cost!
