Hello everyone! Time for yet another review! This time it's a book from Media Angels!!! Media Angels is a "company dedicated to serving the needs of Christian parents, students, and teachers." At Media Angels, you can expect to find plenty of Creation Science materials, as well as many books. As a part of The Homeschool Crew I received a copy of the first book in the Truth Seekers Mystery Series by Felice Gerwitz and her then 12-year-old daughter Christine - The Missing Link: FOUND. The book was written several years ago when Christine was a homeschooled student herself. Also, because Felice is a homeschool mom and knows how we think, Literature Guides are available for these books.
Before I read the book, I had my 14 year old son read it. He read it in two nights. He liked it so much, in fact, that when it becomes possible, I will be getting the rest of the series. I was sick a few weeks ago and had some down time to read it myself. I also read it in two days too. It's a suspense and action thriller/ mystery that takes place in Florida. The main characters are two Christian teens named Anna and Christian. The kids find themselves in the middle of quite an adventure which involves an arcaeological dig when where some scientists are claiming to have found the "missing link." They witness an FBI shootout, watch someone suffer a terrible illness, are frightened by a terrifying figure in the night, and more. As they seek to put all the pieces of this mystery together, they discuss issues concerning creation science versus evolution. Though it's fiction, there are many facts which also makes this book educational. The teens are typical, they can have certain attitude issues at times, but they also know that they need the Lord, and prayer is very much a part of their lives. What are the pros of this book? As I said, it's fun to read, but it also is very educational. What's not to like? If you are not a young earth creationist, you will not like this book. It is definitely from a young earth/six day creation slant. Also, it is quite action filled, so if you are not inclined to read anything but "the classics" you won't find it appealing. There are a few typos and grammatical errors. Apparently that really bugs some people, but it didn't bother me. I just wanted to find out what happened next! The Crazy Mom Take: This is a great addition to our family library. I like to teach my kids to defend their beliefs and this book is a big help in that area. I am going to have all of my kids read it. Some will have to wait a few years! Like I said, we will most likely buy the rest of the series. I really liked it! I am going to give The Missing Link: FOUND four out of five smileys!!!
