The Noticer could easily be described as a quick-read, Christian fiction novel, but it's a whole lot more than that.  The fact is, it isn't a long book, it is a page turner, and you could easily plunk yourself down and read this in a few hours.  However, that would be mean missing out on the real meat of this story.

The Noticer is about a guy named Andy and his relationship with Jonas, a mysterious old man who always seems to be in the right place at the right time.  Jonas always has just the right advice for every situation, and he shares his advice not only with Andy, but with several residents of a small town named Orange Beach.  Once you meet Jonas, your life will never be the same.  He understands what you are going through, whether it be homelessness, divorce, reaching old age or any number of other issues we all face. 

Like I said, this book is very meaty.  My recommendation would be to either read it once and then go back and really let the message sink in, or read one chapter at a time.  Each chapter contains a nugget (or  several nuggets) of wisdom that deserve to be pondered.  Sure, some of I have seen in e-mail forwards, but it is good advice anyway.  (Oh, and I do think there were a few historical inaccuracies concerning George Washington Carver.  Not that it in any way takes away from the message, but I had just read a Carver bio and it kinda bugged me!  LOL)

Once you read the book, the hope of the author is that you'll become a noticer too.  Sometimes we all just need to learn to get a new perspective on things.  This book helps you to do just that.
