As part of the Bethany House blogger review program I received From a Distance by Tamera Alexander. From a Distance is a romance novel set in the remote town of Timber Ridge, Colorado in 1875. The story revolves a budding photographer, Elizabeth Westbrook, and Daniel Ranslett, a rugged but handsome man who once fought in the Confederate Army.
Elizabeth comes to the town keeping her motives secret. Daniel has secrets of his own. A murder in town changes everything and Elizabeth and Daniel embark on a journey that will change their lives forever.
I have to say that the story line was intriguing, though a bit slow for my taste. I admit, however, that I am not a fan of romance novels and normally don't read them. Not being the stubborn, independant type, I did not really relate to Elizabeth, and I have to say I'm not sure I would approve of some of her actions, nor her journey with Daniel. (Yeah, I'm a prude, even by 1875 standards!)
However, this is fiction after all. And if you are a fan of romance novels, especially those who keep it clean, you will probably enjoy accompanying Elizabeth and Daniel on their journey. And if you do decide you like it, there are two more books that round out the Timber Ridge Reflections Series, Beyond this Moment, which is out now, and Within My Heart, coming soon.
Happy reading!!!
