Balance is a process.

Well, at least that is what I am finding out.  Some days, balance is achieved and other days I fail miserably.  I am working on getting a routine and cleaning schedule drawn up.  I need to find some organization as well.

Homeschooling is going great.  Leesha learned how to tie her shoes on Thursday!  WOOHOOO!  This has been something that we have worked on for about a year on and off.  She would just get so frustrated with it.  That in the end, I would just focus her attention on other things for a while to ease that frustration.   She finally got it and she was off tying everything in the house!   When Daddy came home, she had to tie everything for him.  She was so proud.

Teaching reading has been quite the challenge but I think we have finally figured out something that is working for us.  She is doing so much better with sounding out words and everything.  That lightbulb clicked just this past week.

I just have to say how much joy I get when watching her discover new things and the sense of accomplishment and pride I feel when she gets so excited about learning something like tying your shoes.   My little girl beamed for the next several days that she could finally tie her own shoes.  I can't wait to hear her read her first story and I pray that she keeps the love of reading all throughout her life.  She told her Sunday School teacher a couple weeks ago that she hated reading because it is so hard.  I just wanted to cry.   I hope that changes once she gains more conifidence in herself.

Hooray for Leesha! That's so fun being there to witness their accomplishments. As far as reading goes, have you seen the large Dick and Jane books at Walmart? Our boys loved them! In fact, I really think our youngest son learned how to read when we went to a store and he sat on the floor next to the book rack and started with "Look". But, even if your daughter isn't picking up reading right now, just remember to read... read... read to her. That is the best thing you can do at this age. She'll pick up on it when she's ready. :-) Have fun!

Hey thanks for the add and drop by. Also wanted you to know that I've added you too.
You know, the library has many of many tools for us 'The homeschoolers'. I used the tape books and my son and I would lay on the bed listening to the tape while I had a pencil 'not shrpened' and just pointing away at the words. He thought it was way too cool, then I had to give up the pencil. (so sad) cause my big boy wanted to use the pointer pencil to read... A couple of cool things to do is sand in a pan, to make letter's words, Play-doh to make letter's and words, hand foam soap, paint on old box's and plenty more awsome things to do... We're just like them, a kid at heart teaching them neat and cool new things to do....
Have fun!! with homeschooling.

Awww.... Reading is like a lightbulb, I think. I have heard of this wonderful book, "Better Late Than Early" -- I need to read it yet, but have heard fabulous reviews. Maybe you and I should both read it. *wink*

Glad you are working it all out.... Reading is such a wonderful gift.

Blessings, Beckie :o)
