Seeing Him in Everything
Posted in A Day the Lord Made
It has been one hot summer this year in the eastern portion of the US.
We haven't bothered to switch on the AC because the past several
summers had been a mixture of rain and lower than normal temps so we
welcomed this long awaited summer with open arms!
Along with the souring temps also comes the chances for
thunderstorms. Our average T-storms in the east don't produce too
many lightning strikes but with the rise in temps this year we are on
the look-out for sudden cold fronts to produce whopper storms! We
had one such storm last night. I could see it was going to be an
"intensly electrified" storm evidenced by the multiple lights in the
sky miles away. I called home to tell Annette because I was
planning to stay with my mother until the storm passed.
The storm moved in quickly and it was a dangerous one to say the least. We were surrounded by lightning!!!
My usual response was to keep an eye on everything and to pray that it
would pass quickly but this time was very different, each huge
bolt that would stretch from sky to ground caused me to praise our
Awesome God. No fireworks display could come close to this mighty
hand in the sky. The decibles from the rumbling thunder shook the
floors but I had no fear. All I had was an awareness of an
Awesome Lord who made everything, who knows the number of hairs on my
head, who can move mountains (even the earth if he wants to!) My
God is the Rock of Ages of whom or what shall I be afraid? The
lightning was in-escapable and un-ignorable. A Holy God uses
whatever means He has to get our feeble attention, from the tiniest
firefly to the flaming arrows in the sky. We are without excuse.
Many Good Swimming Days to Everyone!

Barbara Frank tagged me, but this time the rules have been changed slightly. She added a new question at the end of her list and encouraged everyone she tagged to do the same. Right now we're at seven questions, so the list is still short enough that you should feel free to add one as well if you like.
1. What is your favorite all-time movie?
2. Where is your favorite place on earth?
3. Do you run a home business, and if yes, then what is it you do?
4. What are some lessons in life you had to learn the hard way?
5. Assuming you're a parent, what is the one thing you are happiest to see in your children?
6. What would you like written on your headstone someday?
7. What is the one thing that you wish you had done by now?

I love thunderstorms! I love the dark clouds, the eery stillness before it rains, the distant and even close rumbling of thunder... Weird, huh? But I absolutely love a good thunderstorm which is very common here in Houston. It is a wonderful example to your children to appreciate God's hand in everything around you...even if it is something that you are fearful of or don't like very much-- so, good job mama! :-) Marsha

I love a thunder storm if I'm safe in the house and it's not too close. It's been a hot summer here too. We haven't turned on our on window unit AC since the summer of 2002. But this summer it's on! Looking forward to fall.........

It has been literally unbearable with a thunderstorm everyday ... I do also love thunderstorms as long as we don't get struck by lighterning ;) ... my house got struck once when I was a teenager.
Anyway, our AC has been on non-stop ... eek! And down here it's even too hot to go to the pool most days! Have a fun rest-of-the-summer and try to stay cool :)
