Preschool? Keep them Home.........
Posted in Cathys Contemplations
In these times we live, it is not uncommon within the average family to find both mom and dad are part of the workforce. If these families have children to provide for, I am sure that their intentions are very good but sadly their priorities are way out of line. Sure we all need food and clothes but sadly these parents have forgotten the importance of spending precious time with their children.
A recent study study on the effects of preschool on children conducted by Berkeley research shares their finds. The study found that children who attended preschool at least 15 hours a week displayed more negative social behaviors when compared with their stay-at-home peers.
"The biggest eye-opener is that the suppression of social and emotional development, stemming from long hours in preschool, is felt most strongly by children from better-off families," said UC Berkeley sociologist and study co-author Bruce Fuller."
Growing up in my own life, I was blessed with the presence of my parents. I can't imagine what it would've been like to spend a major portion of my day away from them at a very tender age. If you'd like to read a short editorial on the report, you can do so here;

I hope the opponent to Universal preschool in California have this report and can quote it on a dime. In Minnesota, no one has yet recommended universal preschool, but there is a push to lower the mandatory school age.

Hi Cathy
Out of ignorance I dropped my son at a day mother with 5 other kids at the age of 6 months. He is quite a well adjusted 11 year old now.....but one thing i did notice was that he became independant of me at a very young age.......and didn't seem to need ME! It made me quite sad to have a 2 year old who prefered others!!!! My little girl who is now 21 months is SO dependant on me and is very close to me. She has never been to any sort of playgroup or day mother..... and never will! Since bringing my oldest son home to be homeschooled I have seen our relationship grow and we are a whole lot closer!!!!
Thanks for the posting

Interesting post. I've decided Motherhood is God's plan for Universal Preschool. Everything else is just a cheap imitation. Thanks for the link.
