Mini Vacation - Outdoor Science School
Posted in Todays Homeschooling Adventure
We have been exceptionally busy this past month. The highlight was our trip to the Poconos at an outdoor retreat called Spuce Lake Science Camp. We have oodles of pictures that Annette will be sharing on her blog but for now I'm going to post 2 pictures. We spent 3 days and 2 nights and each day was filled with nature learning. Every lesson ended with scriptures and how to apply each lesson to our Christian walks. I will be sharing those lessons here on this blog so that I will not forget them.
Annette is getting ready to repel a cliff in the following picture. The lesson is designed to help the student take a step of faith out of their comfort zone.

I can't wait to hear more about your adventures! I would LOVE to hear about your scripture references and lessons-- definitely something the kids won't forget, especially when you put it that way!

I love it when the Word comes to life--and there are so many outdoor adventures where you see things in a way you never did before.

Annette, I'm glad that was you and not me. I don't think I have the courage for stuff like that. Eeeks. That looked scary.

That looks like the perfect vacation/field trip!
Isn't it great how we homeschooling moms can turn something like that into such a learning experience that the rest of the world looks us simply as fun?!
Of course, repelling that cliff would have scared me half to death!

It wasn't very scary, it was just hard! :) I couldn't quite get down the technique of maneuvering myself on the cliff! (Bumping into the side of rocks is not fun.)

Wow!! That is a leap of faith!! Is this one of the groups that was at the CHAP convention? I've always thought it would be fun to do something like this with DS when he's about 15ish. Can't wait to hear more about what you learned.

When I was in the Army I hated going out to the field and felt the whole experience was wasted if the training didn't include some repelling. How much fun can you have? I was; however, younger then. I bet I wouldn't like it now. I took Marissa to an amusement park last summer and didn't like the rides that required my body to be high off the ground. So glad your daughter got to enjoy this experience!

Cathy,
The Oops Bible study was so much fun! I can't wait for next week. I am tempted to do the other session about getting ready for the new homeschool year but the time isn't as good. It will be 4 AM our time!
