Apologia Biology

Posted in Todays Homeschooling Adventure

We are finally able to do some of the experiments that are listed in the Apologia biology textbook.  We are very happy with our new scope.  It is so much bigger than I anticipated it would be!

This is a picture of a piece of thread magnified 400 times.
I never realized that there are tiny strands that make up the whole piece!

This next pic. is one of Annette's cheek cells magnification 1000 times.

I wasn't sure "what" we would find hanging around on my cheeks since I have a major cold but this is one of my cells magnified 400 times.

This is the same cell as from above at only 100 times.

Wow! Those are wonderful. What microscope do you have? DS enters high school next year, and we want to invest in a nice one. BTW, I don't mind getting tagged...it's fun. Actually, it makes you take a good look at yourself :)

That is so extremely neat-o!!! Sure beats the Crayola Microscope we currently have...but there is no way I'd let my boys near one of those fancy ones!

Love,
Marsha

Thanks for stopping by my blog. :)
Those are great pictures! I'm wonderinghow you took a picture through the microscope! Wow!

I also enjoyed your post on PA laws, portfolios, etc. Our state doesn't require a portfolio, but I thought keeping one would be fun, so I'm considering HOW I want to organize it...

I hope your cold mends quickly! Colds are nasty.

Julie is so sweet. It was nice to meet you. Your blog truly is creative! I love the rose. We just purchased a small microscope last week and are loving seeing ordinary things under it. Great photos too. Thanks for sharing them.
Blessings on your night,
Michele

That tail is a flagellum. We are doing high school apologia biology too. It has been soo much fun. I enjoyed your pix. We don't have quite the high powered scope you have but we are able to see a lot. Today the children saw paramecium (sp?)
