School started- Spanish copywork page/ Hoja de lectura para copiar

Well, we finally started school last week, but it's been slow going. I'm trying to kick into gear, but the only thing consistent is math. Today, after she wrote a thank you note to dh's boss, I decided to add in more copywork to her routine. For the next couple of weeks, she'll do a daily copywork page. Until we start the read-alouds in week 3, I'm going to start with "Pregones" by Alma Flor Ada. I bought this one of a series through MIBI Book, before they closed, and it's been sitting on my shelf for about 3 years. Del Sol Books now carries six of eight of the series, "Cuentos con Alma."

Here's the page she's doing today, the two different sentences came from two different paragraphs on the same page. I would like to send a thank you for the homeschool mom on WTM that created the template for me! Hopefully there will be more to follow in upcoming days and weeks. I'd like to do a week or two's worth at a time.

I was delighted to know that you will be sharing my book Pregones. I would very much like to know what you think of this book of one of my cherished childhood memories.
Because glancing through your blog it seems you are teaching Spanish reading through the syllabic approach you may find my books Partimos/Andamos/Corremos/Volamos of the series Hagamos caminos very useful. They present a gradual progressive language, all based on already presented syllables, enhanced with beautiful art by Ulises Wensell. Many of the texts have been put to music by Suni Paz. Congratulations on this beautiful task of developing your children as lovers of books -- may it bring you great joy!
And thank you for making my books part of the process.
All best wishes, Alma Flor Ada

It is an honor for me to have you visit my blog! Our home library is full of books by you and Isabel Campoy. Two years ago, I had the chance to meet Ms. Campoy at an education conference. The Del Sol Books table was playing "La H (es letra muy cayada)", which happened to be my daughter's favorite song.

Between DSB, and now SantillanaUSA, we are finally able to get quality native Spanish language literature and other materials to teach here in the US. There are many homeschooling bilingually, and these resources are very important to us.

Thank you so much for writing such quality, available, literature! We love you and Ms. Campoy here! (Ok, enough gushing).
