Peace in the Midst of Pain
A week ago today, my husband and I lost another precious little one to miscarriage. We now have four dear little blessings waiting for us in heaven. Coupled with our history of unexplained infertility, this loss is yet another deep wound to heal from. But healing DOES come - in time. God's timing is perfect and his plans for us are for our benefit. I don't know why He has chosen to have us walk this road, but I do know His plans are for our GOOD and His glory.
I found a quote this morning on a blog I have been blessed by recently. Kathy had been reading an autobiography of Jennifer Rothschild called, "Walking By Faith: Lessons Learned In the Dark", and posted the following quote:
"The only difference between becoming bitter and becoming better is the letter 'I'. Approaching our difficulties from the standpoint of what I want, what I have lost, or what I think is fair will embitter us. Bitter eyes can perceive only the injustice and the sorrow in the situation. Grateful eyes however, will always see the grace of God, regardless of how difficult our circumstances might be. Grateful eyes allow us to see "the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living" (Psalm 27:13)."
Lord, give me grateful eyes to see Your grace in my life, regardless of how difficult the circumstances You place me in might be.

Thankful Thursday 2

I've been feeling a little overwhelmed and discouraged of late, so I thought I'd combat it with a dose of gratitude. Here are some things I am thankful for today:
- The sun is shining and it is actually warm outside. The grass is turning a beautiful shade of emerald and the trees are beginning to bud. Our daffodils and hyacinth are in full bloom and the hyacinth smell heavenly.
- DS continues to do very well with his EI preschool (early intervention) twice a week. While he is at school, DD and I get to spend time together.
- Celebrating two 4th birthdays and our 15th wedding anniversary all within 2 weeks of each other. Besides, they are genuinely legitimate reasons to have chocolate cake and chocolate ice cream!
- The kitchen is functionally complete! All the cabinets and countertops are installed and working. I have a pantry with food and supplies in my kitchen and 1/3 more cabinet space for everything else. All that remains is paint on the walls, a tile backsplash above the sink & stove, and baseboards and trim.
- My DH is going on a two-week mission trip this summer and all of the financial support he needed has come in. Besides the incredible blessing that is, it is also another confirmation that this trip is indeed God's plan for him this summer.
- Some health issues we have been dealing with in our family are beginning to be understood, and hope for a healthy future is no longer completely out of reach. We need to make several lifestyle changes, but solutions no longer elude us.
These are some things I am thankful for today. I hope they are encouraging to you also.

Thankful Thursday

I've just been introduced to the world of blog meme's. I thought I would try one meme to start with, and what better topic than thankfulness. It's something I need to be reminded of regularly. So here are the things I am thankful for today:
- The sun is shining and helps the chilly world outside seem a little more cheerful. The birds are singing up a storm as if to say, "Be encouraged! Spring is on its way!"
- This morning, DS initiated practicing his letters and numbers. He said about 22 of the 26 letters of the alphabet (repeating after me) and counted from 1-10 (also, repeating after me)
- DS had his second day of EI preschool (early intervention) this week and did very well. This is the first week he has had two classes in a week, and both days went very well.
- While DS was doing well in his class, I sat in the lobby and had time to finish my weekly "homework" for a Beth Moore Bible study class I attend on Thursday evenings.
- The kitchen is moving forward! The very tall pantry cupboard was brought in last night with help from our kind neighbor. Upon closer inspection, it was decided that installing the ceramic tile floor would be better to do now (it will raise the pantry up to the ceiling to match the other upper cabinets), and DH and kind neighbor made a trip to Home Depot to get the necessary supplies.
- I was able to share some of the things we have learned through our challenges with DS with another adoptive mom, and she was encouraged. It is so good to know our struggles are not in vain.
These are some things I am thankful for today. I hope they are encouraging to you also.
