Pray for America's 44th President

"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty."
(1 Timothy 2:1-2)
This afternoon at 12 noon EST, Barack Hussein Obama placed his hand on the Bible used by Abraham Lincoln at his inauguration in 1861 and was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America.
Mr. Obama was not my choice for President, but that does not change the fact that God chose to let him be placed in that office. As the text above from First Timothy states, it is our duty to pray for our leaders, regardless of whether or not we voted for them to be in those positions of authority.
Kimberly at Joyful Momma's Musings has put together a guide to help families pray for our new president. I encourage you to take a look and use her helpful tool in your daily prayer time.

Review: Molly’s Money Saving Digest – Jan 2009
This week I had the privilege to review an eBook digest that The Old Schoolhouse Magazine (TOS) is preparing to publish next month. I enjoyed the eBook and hope my humble review of it will whet your appetite for Molly’s fresh ideas for frugal living in 2009.
Molly’s Money Saving Digest will be available from TOS in monthly eBook installments and will cover a variety of topics related to helping families use their finances and resources wisely.
January’s digest begins by introducing some creative (and tasty) ideas for decorating and showing hospitality. Tips for assembling an emergency car kit will be very helpful to those of us who live in snowy regions. Molly also lists several household and personal items generally found on sale in stores this month. Very handy for those who like to stock up for future needs.
I was also encouraged by the Parenting section. In it she talks about the importance of the three R’s – not reading, ‘riting, and ‘rithmetic, but respect, responsibility, and resourcefulness – and why it’s vital we train our children to cultivate these qualities. Come to think of it, the more we cultivate the three R’s in our own lives, it will help us be wiser stewards of the relationships and resources God has blessed us with.
My favorite section, though, was the Special Feature, “Getting Organized for Fiscal Fitness”. Simply put, it is about creating a budget, including why we need one and how to plan it. This is one of our family’s main goals for 2009 and this section was detailed and clearly laid out for even this math-challenged homemaker to understand and implement.
I enjoyed reading the eBook digest and hope you will look for it in January. I’m sure you will be encouraged and challenged as you and your family embark on the adventure that a new year brings.

1930's Marital Scale
Would you fit in as a good wife in the 1930's? Apparently, I would! I found this quiz at Gluten-Free Frugal and thought it would be fun. There are a lot of questions, but they are quick to answer - just check the box next to it if it applies to you. Have fun!
