How do you homeschool?

Week2

This is the start of our 5th year and we have made some changes for this year. One is that our son has his own planner this year. My friend over at http://isaiah5413.blogspot.com/ has created some of the neatest planners and is selling them! She also helped me organize my own planner. This was a big deal because I tend not to want to be that organized.

This year we are blessed to be a part of a local homeschool group which is offering lots of stuff to do. Ds will take part of a Apologia Science Co-op, a communications class and a fine arts class (music and art). We will also have field trips and academic events throughout  the year. I highly recommend you find a local group! The support is tremendous! One of the greatest assest to me is that this group also provides mom's fellowships for our support.

This year will be a combination of textbooks and unit studies. In the past 4 years we have done a lot of unit studies and this is my favorite way to teach! I love creating units! This year though we are going to use units with American History. I'm really excited because for the first time we will be lapbooking.

The last and most important thing I use for our school is prayer! Prayer gets the day started and keeps it going! Prayer keeps my priorities straight, whether that's sticking to the books or taking time off to play! Prayer leads me back to the greatest book we have to teach by, the Bible. This is were my stength to keep going comes from : Prayer!

May you be richly blessed!

You are so right...prayer is the glue that holds all of our homeschooling days together.
Sounds like you are off to a great start.
I'm going to check out your friend's blog.
Wishing you a great day,
Linda
