This year one of the changes we did was to include lapbooks. I have known about lapbooks for years but never seem to find the time to really get one started. I am a very visual learner and very hands-on so after seeing the one our son, B did for his science co-op I got it! Now we are lapbooking like crazy! In fact, I think I'd better be careful not to overdo it! I found that lapbooks are also a great compromise when you have different learning styles and teaching styles! (should I say opposite styles!) They let me be creative, but are still very logically put together, B needs this! So far this year we have done the following lapbooks: Flying Creatures of the 5th day : Birds (co-op, bought) America at War : The American Revolutionary War (I created) How the Grinch Stole Christmas (free on internet) Lewis and Clark ( free on internet) , we will finish this one today. Lapbooks in progress: Flying Creatures of the 5th day : Insects (co-op-bought) Classical Music (class, free from estore) Our American Presidents (doing with a friend) America at War: The Civil War (in process of creating) I want to share a great resource for lapbooking! Lynn has everything you need to know in one place! Go over to Lynn's Lapbook Lessons to learn and enjoy. Oh, take a drink along because you may be there a while! I'm still learning how to use my scanner so if I get it soon I will post pictures of B's lapbooks! If you haven't tried lapbooking I highly encourage you to check them out! Be blessed! |
