Have you ever heard the term "gully washer" when it rained! Well' since moving to the Hill Country of Texas I have learned to appreciate the saying! When it rains, it really comes down!
This picture doesn't even do justice to how hard it's coming down! We are staying home today! By the way, I actually found a definition of gully washer! Chiefly Southern term for a heavy rainstorm. They say the rain's movin' in, from the looks of it I'd say it's gonna be a real gullywasher. We've had our vocabulary for the day! Be blessed!

Lysa is having a recipe swap today to give us all new life in the kitchen! I decided to share the soup I made for supper last night. Chicken Enchilada Soup 1 small onion, chopped 1 clove garlic, crushed 2 TBS. vegetable oil 1 can green chilies 14 1/2 ozs. beef broth 10 3/4 ozs. chicken broth 1 can cream of chicken soup 1 can chunck-style chicken ( I use chicken I've cooked, about 3 breasts) 1 1/2 cups of water 1 TBS steak sauce 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 tsp. ground cumin 1 tsp. chili powder ( only use if you like heat) 1/8 tsp. pepper 3 cups grated Cheddar cheese paprika bag of scoop Tostada chips Saute onion and garlic in oil ( I cook my chicken here also) in a Dutch Oven. Add next 11 ingredients: bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer 1 hour. Add cheese and simmer uncovered for 10 minutes. Sprinkle with paprika and serve with chips. I make this and put in my slow cooker at lunch time on low to serve at supper. |

Nancy has asked each one of us to do a very special thing this week. She would like each person to commit to prayer for someone in the service. She has also chosen Klove's Wall of Prayer to help us. If you would like to join us please go over to The Kings Kreation . " What I want everyone to do is to go to this Wall of Prayer and either list someone you know to pray for or just pledge to pray for anyone or any family...especially for WIVES and FAMILY MEMBERS of service people." As a family, we are chosing Colby. He is in the Army National Guard. He is going to be near Bosnia. Psalm 34: 7-8 "The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him." May God bless this family, protect and comfort them and give them wisdom to get through this season! |

How do you know when your child is really grasping the concept? Sometimes I really struggle with this, then God gives me a precious gift! We are using Day 5: Flying Creatures for science this year. Right now we are on the insect section and just finished the week on social insects. B and I did a huge unit on insects three years ago so I was wondering how much he would really listen to and want to learn. We are participating in a co-op so quitting isn't an option for us. Over the weekend I'm on the computer ( imagine that) when I notice the conversation between B and hubby. B was sharing all he knew about bees and the differences in them. Then he went on to tell him about ants and wasps. It was great! I learned a valuable lesson right then. Don't have low expectations for B and don't assume he won't learn anything new! It's in these moments that God lets me know that we all can continue learning, especially about His wonderful creation! By the way, did you know that man created the "Killer Bees'? It was an experiment gone bad! HMMM, makes you think! Be blessed! |
