The Best Choice We Ever Made

Well, this is our 3rd week homeschooling, and I have to say that this is the best choice that my husband and I have ever made. The girls arn't fighting as much,we are such a closer family, and I feel so bonded with my children. This year I am using Rod & Staff. They are really great books, and I love the fact that they are Christian based~but being a Catholic, I need more.I will be using Seton starting next year.It will save me a lot of time, because right now,Iam having to go through the Catechism of the Catholic Church and making their lesson plans up from scratch...double work~~~ I am very happy with our choice.I will never go back to government controlled schools again. No one is going to tell me what my child should and shouldn't learn. No one is going to teach my children that God is mearly a myth,a man made creation.NO ONE~~~~~and no one is going to teach my children that family is just a state of life. I hope that more American families start homeschooling. Its a true blessing.

Mary,
To supplement the Rod and Staff, you might want to purchase "100 Activities Based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church". I love it! It's an all in one thing-it's broken down into Primary, Intermediate and Advanced levels so one books works for all kids! I even used one of the lessons in the RCIA clase I taught last night! I also use Creative Communications Teacher Planner (they have student ones, too). It is the most awesome Catholic planner that is liturgically based! Why, you could teach all your religion just using your planner! You can check it out at www.creativecommunications.com under teacher resources-and inexpensive, too!
Always have fun!

We are a Roman Catholic family that has made the choice to homeschool our 2 daughters, and son. This is our first year homeschooling. We have 2 other boys (twins) that are in public school (they are seniors, and did not want to be homeschooled), They are great boys, and I wish that I could have homeschooled them as well. I wouldn't trade this for the world!
