Dec. 19, 2008 - Mom's house is festive!!
Since my mom is down with her broken ankle, the kids and I went over today and got all of her Christmas decorations out and set up!! I am not really sure if this is going to help or hurt her mood, I am hoping it will lift her spirits! She has been very down with us all having to do pretty much everything for her, she hates depending on people! Yesterday at her first Dr. appointment he said she hasn't spent enough time with it elevated, there is still more swelling than they want! Her pain does seem a little better and she is still determined to have Christmas dinner at her house this year, wouldn't dream of taking that from her, so today I went shopping for all her groceries and the fixins for dinner, Bob (my stepdad) and I are going to take care of dinner, but with mom's instructions on what she wanted us to make!
The kids loved getting all her decorations out and setting them all over the house, and helping Grandma out in general!! I know so many people question home schooling and the "socialization issue" but watching my kids jump in there and willingly want to help someone, and be so excited to do it, just affirms my decision that this is the best thing for us. The "lessons" they are getting this Christmas break are far more important to who they will be once they are grown, than any thing they will ever learn from a school book!
Last week was our Christmas party with our home school group, it was lots of fun!! (Thanks to Laurie for all her planning) It is so nice to go to these functions with families that I feel like we just "click" with!! It is an awesome bunch of moms, and kids!!!
So that has been our last week or so, busy, helpful, and full of blessings!!
