Firm Foundation Homeschool

Jan. 19, 2009 - So many things to be in prayer about...

I have been thinking about posting for a few days now, and just haven't been able to find the time, so here I am I have been CRAZY busy and some days wonder if I am teaching my kids anything!  I don't in any way doubt our decision to home school and LOVE having the chance to do this BUT lately it just seems so many things are being thrown at us, am I really getting through??

So the updates which also are biggies on my prayer list right now! First the continued recovery of my mom, she is doing pretty good, the Dr. is happy with her progress.  Then Thursday afternoon I got a phone call that Sonny had been hurt at work!  I couldn't get any details and had no way of knowing where they took him, so I had to sit here and wait for phone calls to update me.  He finally got home and I find out he has cut his arm deep enough to cut the tendons working his ring and pinky finger. So that meant surgery on Friday.  Surgery went well, and with all the meds he felt no pain till Sat., we went to the Dr. today and he has a custom formed splint and sling, he can return to work to only do left handed work, as long as he is in therapy 2-3 times a week, missed work is SUPPOSED to be covered by workman's comp. (we are dealing with a lawyer to protect his rights on this).  All in all he is glad to return to work, while he doesn't like his company, he told me he would rather be there doing "whatever" and making full wages than sitting at home for less. He says that just doesn't "feel" right!  What a guy, I am so proud of him, but of course I can't help but worry, my prayer is that his full function will return in his hand/fingers once all is healed and that his employer will treat him kindly through this whole process. Another huge deal around here is that a dear family in our church has had a horrible tragedy and lost their home and all in a house fire, please lift the Herman family up, as they begin the long process of dealing with insurance and all that goes with this, the blessings being that all got our safely, they have wonderful friends (Laurie your awesome) who were there to support them and the outpouring of love from the rest of the church has been overwhelming!  It is a sad situation but so AMAZING to watch and hear of God working through this church family to lift these great people up.  Not to mention all the calls and emails we have had from the church family to check in on Sonny.  Sometimes when I catch myself stressin over the little stuff, then I look at what God will do if we just let him and can't help but feel anything but praise!

I am off to bed now, and hoping that MAYBE we'll get through some school tomorrow.
