Some Assembly Required....

Feb. 5, 2007 - Jumping in!

I have been sitting on the edge of the blog pool with my toes skimming in the water and have finaly decided to just plug my nose (I'm 31 and still have to) and jump in. My good friend at jumpingonthebed should get the credit really, though she doesn't know it. I saw what she was doing on her site and was inspired. I'm so much more sane a person when I write, but haven't managed to journal with any consistency since I married my husband almost nine years ago. I also love the finished product of a scrap book, but have never actually completed one because the paper mess and clutter drive me crazy. I thought that this would be the best of both worlds- a journal and a paperless scap book all tidy and rolled up into one! Then I started playing with the template (or vise versa),  and reality struck. You bloggers are some smart cookies.

With that said, I have determined to go forward anyway, because now you already know that I am somehow less sane married than I was single (No dear, I'm not blaming it on you), hate clutter, and that I start more things than I finish. The risks are far too great now not to follow through. Since I have thus decided you are stuck with me, I figure maybe now would be a good time for a diversion, I mean introduction, to the rest of the crew....Somehow I always knew there was great value in exposure.

The other, much more endearing, members of my journey are as follows:

    Smart-Ash  ASHER ,  6 YEARS OLD

Asher is a very witty and clever little girl, and the oldest of my brood. She has a good vocabulary and a subtle, mischievious sense of humor. She has always been the kind of person who weighs her decisions with care and takes risks when she is ready. She observes the tiniest details in everything, which is easily evidenced in her relationships, humor, and the things she likes to create. She is truly a tender little girl who is fun to be around and is a good big sister.

                                                                  EILIDH, 4 YEARS OLD         185_8523a.jpg

Eilidh is a little creature who rarely ever stops moving, yet somehow still manages to stop by regularly to 'cuddle buggle.' While Asher thinks about everything before making her move, Eilidh does first and then decides if it was a good idea. We have to give her a lot of room to test her theories, understanding that she will likely be the first of the little ones to visit the emergency room for a broken bone. As tough as she is, and as many leaves and sticks that I pull out of her hair by the end of the day, she is oddly also our most 'girly' in regards to her love for beautiful things and pretty clothes. If there are high heels in the middle of the floor, she is the one who has rescued them from mom's closet. I have a photo of her in fairy wings, a tu-tu, and her dad's hiking boots. She is wearing nothing else and is carrying a toy sword. It is the perfect juxstaposition of all that I love about our little wily.

silas   SILAS, 14 MONTHS

Silas is our sweet little man, and we have enjoyed his eager smiles and easygoing spirit. We also love that he enjoys playing as much as the rest of us. His daddy is pleased that he is developing a shared appreciation for things that make noises such as 'VROOM, BEEP, IRRRCH, and BANG!", and mom hopes that he maintains his desire to unload everything from the dishwasher. Silas is waiting with great anticiapation to find out if he'll be a big brother to a another little boy this summer, or if he and daddy will be even more outnumbered.

AND FINALY, THERE'S GOOD OLD DAD  ......              113_1350a.jpg

For some reason the guy has to take his own photos if he want's to be a face in the family album. He's playing serious here, but it is really a ruse. SD is my best buddy even if he does have an affinity for things that go 'VROOM, BEEP, IRRRCH, and BANG!" which I can only try to understand.

I always thought that I would be friends with the man I married for several years before even speaking the 'M' word. SD and I knew each other for just a few months before he proposed to me. Two weeks later he was driving his fiance to her plane headed for Mexico city to do a missions trip, knowing that the months before we would see each other again would outnumber the months we had known each other. We survived and ended up spending enough on international phone calls that he could have come with me.  The month I returned we were married and then sometime later we decided that waiting five years before adding kids to our marriage was a good idea.  I would not however, be writing this blog if those plans had gone 'our way' though.  I'm glad that God knew better. And I'm glad that SD is who I get to share God's knowing better with.

Maybe together we can drill her on vocabulary lesson's. Then if it works out we could move on to basic math skills.

Welcome to HSB! Cammie led me over here. I enjoyed your blog. Most of us learned HTML because of our blogging. It was that or stick with dullsville in the template! At any rate, I'm glad you're blogging with us!
