Aug. 30, 2007 - Celebrating Asher (and then some)
Today we celebrate Asher. She is our first born and I held her in my arms for the first time on this day seven years ago. Her name means "Happy" and "Blessed" which suits her perfectly, as she certainly has brought both happiness and blessings to our home. Happy Birthday to my growing young lady. Thank you for your wit and genuine love for others- may Asher age two you grow in God's grace and wisdom this year.
I felt compelled to edit this entry to include some pictures of Asher's party because she and her adorable friends are just too precious not to show off.
To our right is my good friend Cammie's only boy smiling so big for the camera. He has a great smile-just like his mommy. His sister (one of three) is the little girl at the right of my daughters in this other photo. Good kids, those ones.
I am very thankful to have other families to fellowship with. Cam and I were roomates when I returned back home from college 'just for the summer.' Even though we grew up in the same town we had never met until that fall. She had recently returned from her DTS with YWAM in
India and God was preparing me for mine in Mexico City (I almost said I was preparing for mine, but that simply was not the case- God was the one doing all the work). I have been thankful for that friendship since day one. To think that years later we would still be friends, that each of us would have four children (she is about to surpass me there)and that we would both be homeschooling; I would never have predicted it. It just goes to show that God's plans certainly are not my own and that they really are
much better than I could ever hope, dream, or imagine.
Oh yes, I almost forgot to show you Asher's birthday cake that I made. To grasp the significance of this, you must know that I am a culinary disaster. I am so proud of myself! Consider this artwork displayed on my mom's virtual fridge. You are now free to 'ooooh and ahhh' for my benifit.

I love her eyes. So deep and blue. What a cutie.
And I love that you take to heart the meaning of her name. That's very cool.
