is homeschooling right for me?

Scary night

We were awake last night until 2am!! The police were searching the woods around our house for a man with a knife. The elderly people acrossed the road must have been terrified!! I will go over today to check on them. The boys were asleep. It is so quiet out here in the boonies, I was shocked to hear the helicopter and see police on our road at 11:30pm The deputies searched until around 2 and then they left, I don't think they caught him. So the 4 hours of sleep I did get was fitful. Wow. We are supposed to leave for Orlando today and I have to pack everything and get the children out of school at noon. We will be tired that's for sure. Maybe we can get to bed fairly early tonight or I can catch a nap on the way down. How scary!!!

How frightful!! I understand how you must have felt.. it's been less than two weeks since the police discovered a pipe bomb less than two miles from my home (and less that a mile from my daughter's home). To my knowledge, they have no suspect in the case.

I hope you had a wonderful trip inspite of your sleepless night.

I can relate. We live in the booneys too and had serious drug deals happening in our back woods without our knowledge. Our children played back there. The police did catch the dealers and we got a very large dog that the kids had to take with them when they played in the bush. The dog was a really good idea because nothing could come near the kids without my hearing about it. As to whether it makes a difference in home teaching--it doesn't. That's where faith in God's mercy comes in. I finally had to surrender my children to him no matter where they would be. It all boils down to that. I'll be praying that the police catch the man and that your family is safe.
