22 June 2006 - Anyone in New Mexico?
We are entering a new phase in our homeschooling journey. I am not quite sure what to call it...maybe "travelschooling"? Well, it sounds better than homeschooling transients, right? LOL!
My dh works as an engineering contractor, so every 12-18 months we all go together on the next job contract.
Soon we will be leaving for Hobbs, NM. We are going to spend the year or so studying the desert, plants and creatures of the desert, the local geography (including caves since we'll be close to Carlsbad!!), and astronomy. Of course, we will also be working on all the foundation subjects, but I am really excited about the opportunity to learn in a very real way about things specific to each area we will go to.

In a non-covetous kind of way, of course...
My Sis lives in Hobbs... my brother in law is an asst. Pastor at the A/G church there, and sis leads worship.
We actually lived in Las Cruces for about 10years, and 4 of our children were born there.
My heart longs to be there, though I like IN homeschool laws better, and wouldn't want to leave here.
We do get to visit every so often, though. I hope you have a wonderful year+ there. It is beautiful, and a lovely place to be, though I did like LC better than Hobbs.

I was just blog hopping and saw the title of your post and it caught my eye! We live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We love it here! When will you be travelling out here? I hope you enjoy your stay. The caves are fun and you'll definitely want to visit White Sands. It's a beautiful place and one of my favorites locations in the state!! =)
