What Brothers Should Be

• Sunday, April 16, 2006 - With all your might? I should have thought of that!

Well, if only this was the only part of the verse then you're in trouble. This is not to be a thought in any household. This is saying something like this... "Well, you're not agreeing with me so..." POW! That's what you hear while the bigger brother hits his little one followed by a, "Ha. You can't mess with the Bible. Remember, 'With all your might'!" There are several things wrong about this fight. First, the verse is "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength," not, "with all your might." Second, they don't understand the Bible (go read to understand, go read!). Third, they're fighting. Last, and most important is the fact that the thing is to glorify God, not cast down your brother! You can (and I can!) learn by this by keeping in mind that the Bible is not to be altered or misapplied.

                                P.S. Happy Resurrection day!

P.P.S. My dad, a pastor, mentioned in church today about Thomas Jefferson, who altered the Bible so that the end of the Gospels read, "They laid him in the tomb and departed."

And here I thought I could go and change 1 Tim 5:4 to read "Children should repay their parents" I figured Dad and I would be taken caren of that way :) You're right, Casey, we should always apply God's Word accurately. Aren't you glad we don't read Thomas Jefferson's Bible? He is risen! He is risen indeed!
