Dad's Point of View

Give me steak

"Steak, steak, dimme me steak!"

This was M's mantra tonight.  Not sure what had prompted it since he had grilled cheese and ketchup for dinner.  There was other food on his plate (greens and what not) but he didn't eat it.  When he realized he was being laughed at, and at the center of attention, he started saying "Gimme paw" and holding out his hand for a high five.  The girls believe this is if from Madagascar or the 'Leapster' game of the same name.

Sometimes what M and A say are just so funny.  Baby C isn't talking, so not much comes from him except for the exact same dumbfounded look when his picture is taken.  R makes jokes or statements that are supposed to be funny all the time too.  When it's not men to be funny it makes it even more so.

I just stumbled upon your blog!
I had a good laugh at your comments about taking off your "cop hat". That is just too funny! I come from a long line of law enforcement relatives... we have P.D. detectives, chaplains, K9 seargent, and the youngest - FBI agent! Being married into a highly-police-infused family for 12 years now I know when we go out to eat I will always get the seat with my back to the rest of the restaurant! LOL! Even my hubby who is not a cop, grew up with cops and he just sort of acquired their mannerisms. My mother-in-law can spot an off duty cop just by his walk!! Its so funny!
Anyway, your post on the middle schoolers with contraceptive pills made me cringe. I had those same thoughts when that whole thing happened last month. I guess my one solace is that since our kids are at home, I can shelter them a little from all of that stuff going on around them. A friend told me about her sister who had her kids in a private Christian school here in town. Her son was acting up and flunking out of classes in middle school, so she put him in the local public school (my school district). I think that lasted about 9 school days before he was in tears, BEGGING to go back! Girls were making blatant sexual advances (giving him notes with directions to their houses and times their parents were not home!), drugs were rampant, the fighting, the threats... he was just overwhelmed. Its a really sad state of affairs in the world today.
Thanks for the food for thought!
