I am so excited to actually get a show-n-tell posted this week! I decided to add home-ec as an "official" subject. We've been doing it all along anyway, so I figured I might as well include it in my records!
Our newest school adventure has been allowing Gigi to plan a menu and prepare it once a week. I give her a list of entrees, side dishes, and desserts, then allow her to choose. It has been interesting to say the least!!!! (She is only 6.)
Today was her day to prepare dinner. I love doing this because she is learning math and science while learning how to cook & bake. Measurements, the purpose of baking powder, etc... With each new menu comes new questions & opportunities for Gigi to learn!
Tonight's menu: Chili, Broccoli, and Pumpkin Loaf with Cream Cheese filling (I found this on Tiany's blog).
Yes, I realize that broccoli as a side dish with chili isn't a very appetizing thought. Gigi just loves broccoli, and I love Gigi eating it!!!
So here are some pics of our day:
I really wish I'd taken a picture of the Pumpkin loaf after we cut it. It was beautiful! Gigi was so excited that it looked so much like the picture on the recipe. She called her Mom-Mom & invited her to dinner. It was really a great day!

5:36 AM, Oct. 12, 2007 .. Posted by MiryClayI think that's wonderful Stacey, that you allow Gigi to cook at 6 yrs old. I just started allowing Ashley to cook. I wish I would have started her at a younger age. Gigi is a cutie pie, and it looks like she did a wonderful job!

8:29 PM, Oct. 15, 2007 .. Posted by denisebpStacey, I think it's great that Gigi is learning to cook at such a young age. The pumpkin loaf looks delicious, and you can tell her that she has excellent taste in vegetables! I happen to think that broccoli goes with anything and everything! :)
She has such beautiful hair!
Thanks so much for the book recommendation; I added it to our "wish list!"
