Something Educational...& Funny
We have had some crazy weather over the past month. Today started out with freezing rain, then sleet, then rain – then switching back & forth for the past several hours. It's supposed to keep this up all night and into tomorrow. (I miss the snow we had.)
So, after hearing me talk about it switching back & forth, Gigi asked me what the difference is between sleet & freezing rain. The only thing I could think of to say was that sleet bounces & freezing rain sticks. I decided that wasn't educational enough. Therefore I set out on my quest to better educate her.
While she was doing some of her work I put together a little lesson for her complete with pictures. Then I went into an all out presentation of this information. I told her (in a nutshell) that they both start out as snow and then melt in the sky. Freezing rain hits the ground and then re-freezes because the ground temperature is 32 degrees or below. Sleet actually refreezes in the air & you can hear it hitting the porch & house. It's sort of like hail. I, of course, was proudly showing her the pictures throughout my presentation. Like I said, this is just a nutshell of what I taught her.
When I was all finished I felt quite pleased with myself. I had educated my child!
Gigi's reaction?
"Uh, I got it with the 'sleet bounces & freezing rain sticks' explanation, Mom."

She is just too bright for you my dear! Too funny. I can just see her face while she said that. Hehehe! Great lesson though - well done Momma - A+ for presentation and preparation!

About Me
I’d like to share my adventures homeschooling a little girl who is creative, opinionated, & funny! God blessed us with her through adoption. I'm going to use "Gigi" as her name in this blog since that is the name of the character in her favorite book. Also, I'll share some about how I'm adapting to my new life with MS. My husband is a WONDERFUL man & completely supportive of this adventure! I lived an extremely hectic life for years & I loved it!! When God blessed me with Gigi I knew it was time to give up that lifestyle & focus on her. I am SO GLAD that I am spending these precious days with her. I wouldn't trade it for anything in this world!
