Blogger School Assignment #13: Meet My Bible

Thanks to Nancy for taking on the position of "teacher" in BFS! I'm excited that it's back!

1) How old is your Bible? Just a little over 3 years old.

2) Why did you choose this Bible? I didn't choose it. My Daddy bought it for me for Christmas in 2004.

3) Do you highlight/mark passages? Yes, but not often.

4) If so what is your system? I just use a special highlighting pencil that doesn't bleed through.

5) Do you have notebooks to record things? Yes, but it's more of a prayer journal than a notebook.

6) If so how many and what do you record? One. I like to copy over verses that have really spoken to me during my devotion time and then write out my prayers. It's nice to go back & see how God has answered those prayers along the way.

7) Where is your favorite spot to read your Bible? .At my dining room table at night after everyone else is asleep. It's so peaceful.

8) Are there any special thoughts about your Bible you want to share? Since my Dad gave it to me & he passed away, this Bible is even more special to me. Every time I touch it I feel my Dad's love along with my Heavenly Father's love. It's a warm, secure feeling that envelops me.

I also own 2 other Bibles that are very special to me. My Mom gave me my Dad's Bible after he went to Heaven, and I was given my Pastor's Bible after he died (I was his personal assistant for over a decade). I love to flip through the pages of these Bibles and read their notes. I feel like I have an insight into their hearts, and they were both great men of faith. Such wisdom lies within those pages...

Thank you Stacey for coming by and re-signing the linky for BFS. Your story of your Bible is so special...I too, carry my dad's old Bible from when he was pastoring a church and before his passing. I feel the same way when I hold that Bible, as though I'm holding all that wisdom.

What a lovely post about the Bibles you own. I particularly like the way you feel about your Dad's Bible and the one that used to belong to your pastor - they must be full of such wise reflections on the Word!
