Snakes

Posted in Sarah

Well Sarah got her Birthday present yesterday, and she was as suprised as she was delighted.  She has wanted a pet ever since I can remember, and ever since she held a snake on a field trip, she hasn't stopped talking about one.  So, although I wasn't so excited at first--my dh was--after some convincing, I am finally excited.

We got two corn snakes yesterday, and Sarah named them Elizabeth and Ali.  It took her a few minutes to realize that they were actually hers to keep, and she was absolutely thrilled when we said that she could keep them.  She loves them, and we are just waiting for them to adjust to their new home, and hopefully she can hold one this evening.

So here is my list why snakes are way better than dogs (the pet she has been asking for since she could talk):

They don't make any noise.

They eat about once a week.

They don't dig in the flowers or the garden.

They don't shed hair all over the house.

In relation to the above, they shed their skin which is really cool to watch.

They don't require attention every day, in fact they prefer alone time.

They don't have to get de-wormed, neutered, etc.

They don't shed hair all over the house (I know, I already said that).

I am sure all the dog lovers out there could come up with their own competing lists.  Sarah still has her stuffed dog and says that she will get a real dog when she turns 24.   But she also loves her snakes, and mom does too, what a bonus.

A Bible Verse

Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power may be from God and not from us. We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. II Corinthians 4:7-10
