Quiet Reading Place

Posted in Homeschool

Something I have been considering for a while is trying to set up a special place in the house that is a quiet reading place.  My second grade classroom had a hut in the corner that we could go an read in as a treat, and I remember it being a special alone time for me.  I am trying to think of how to set up something here in our limited space that would be inexpensive.  Any ideas are very welcome.

I too was a classroom teacher. I am always wanting to make my house more like my kid-friendly classroom! One thing that we have is a small tent. I keep it up in our toy room. My kids often go in there to read or play alone. My 15 month old likes to go in there too. She hides. That might work for you too. We got it at TJ Maxx for 15 dollars I think.

I'll put you on my friends list, as it sounds like we have a lot in common: three young children, former school teachers, and just starting to homeschool. I'll stop back often.

I actually did teach school for a year as a permanent substitute, but the 2nd grade classroom I was speaking of was when I was in 2nd grade, so I can't take the credit. I like the idea of the tent, I have one that we put up sometimes, finding a permanent corner would be good. Thanks for responding, I look forward to getting to know you.

A Bible Verse

Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power may be from God and not from us. We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. II Corinthians 4:7-10
