1.14.2008 - Stinking Stomach Bugs...

Posted in On Being a Mother

We've been hit, again, ugh.  I was really hoping loading everyone up with kefir smoothies, filling those intestines with beneficial bacteria to fight off the bad guys, would prevent this bug from hitting, or at least from hitting so hard.  It did last month... not this time.  The bug has been making its way through our church (again) and has now hit 6 out of 6 children (2 of them twice...)  Grrr...

No church yesterday, no orchestra today, no coop tomorrow; these bugs put a cramp in my style- I can't even seem to find a convenient time to get to the grocery store!

This too shall pass...  I know it will.  My job is to wait it out, and to try to serve my family with a cheerful heart (not always so easy in circumstances like these...)  I'm not always so cheerful as I maybe should be, but I really am trying not to grumble, at least audibly.  Stomach bugs are inconvenient, stomach bugs are gross, but I certainly don't want my children thinking they are inconvenient (or gross!)  It's not their fault, and it certainly isn't anything personal.  They need my tender love, even in a time like this, especially in a time like this, and I'm determined to give it.

So I'm off to sanitize more laundry, and probably read another story or two before sending them off to an early bedtime- compromised immune systems need their rest!

Enjoying them, even when they puke,

because of Him,

ali
