My DH & I carefully choose the books we want our DC to study from each time we need new books. Plans are carefully made as of when we will start them & when we would like to have them finished. The lesson plans are drawn out & we begin our studies. Each day we work or read through the material we have on our agenda for that day. Our school day is over, or is it?
While we are driving down the road seems to be a time when one of my children always asks the meaning of some word. Our school day is over, but we are working on vocabulary. While we were in Oklahoma we had to stop & buy a dictionary to look up a word. That was suppose to be our vacation, but here we were increasing our vocabulary knowledge. We also had a spelling B & a math war, I guess you'd call it, to see who could answer the fastest while traveling on the road.
After scool hours my DC will bring a book to me & show me something new that they have just run across, or so they think. Just another time that their mind is discovering & adding to their knowledge.
In our back yard, if there is something that can be discovered, my DS is sure to find it.
Cooking in the kitchen & other daily tasks, my, how there is so much learning to be obtained & used.
Is the homeschoolers school day ever over at a certain time. I believe when we became homeschoolers, we became obsessed educationalists. Everything transformed to a learning experience. Nothing seems to ever be a normal scenery or setting anymore to us. We are always examining for new findings. I am suppose to be educating my DC, but that is not always the case. Sometimes they are feeding mom new knowledge. I wouldn't trade our family life for anything, or our education. Life is such a learning experience.
Well, speaking of feeding, my DH just brought me a wonderful burger with some fries so I'd better go before they chill. Blessings, Traci
