Well, what better way to start off my blog than with a rundown of today? I'll go ahead and start at the beginning...
12:01 am
I am awake, with no desire to sleep. At all. After all, I'm spending the night at a friend's house, and sleep is optional. It would mean we would have to take a break from video games, which is unheard of. We begin playing Super Smash Bros. Melee.
1:15 am (-ish)
We are beginning to tire of mindlessly beating each other's characters up. For some reason, my friend's new plasma tv with HDTV has a fraction of a second of lag, preventing me from using my main SSBM character effectively. Hence I am just choosing annoying, difficult to KO characters for the sheer irritation it causes. As expected, this is met with little enthusiasm, and we decide to put on a movie. Tonight's selection: Sahara.
Around 3:25 am
The movie was good; I had never seen it before. To be completely honest I don't remember much of it, since it was late and I was tiring. I'm pretty sure it had some protagonists who were shooting guns and being shot at in return. I imagine they were in the desert most of the time, though I remember scenes of the ocean and boat chases. Regardless of geographical setting, I seem to remember enjoying it. As a group, we were all getting tired, but we were also determined not to sleep. We put on another movie.
Some unholy hour
We finally go to sleep...
10:00 am
I emerge zombie-like from my friend's room. Apparently I am the last to wake up, because my friends are already at the breakfast table laughing at my appearance. It seems I had slept on my hair funny, resulting in an amusing hair style that is being held in place by the seemingly mystical powers of morning hair. I sit down to a healthy, teen-friendly breakfast of Pop-tarts and apple juice. This is the life.
10:55 am
I get home and take a shower. I have borrowed The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy from my friend; the whole five part trilogy in one terrifyingly large book. (Yes I understand what the word trilogy means. I am simply reciting what the book calls itself). Refusing to be daunted by it's formidable girth, I begin reading.
11:35 am
I realize again how large this book is. I'm daunted by it's formidable girth, and stop reading to check some web discussion boards I visit. I then eat lunch.
1:45 - 5:15 pm
I begin mentally reciting the phrase "I will not be beaten by a book" and return to my reading. Now at this point, I'm sure you're impressed by my fortitude. How could you help but notice that this is a 3-and-a-half hour block of time I'm talking about here? You're probably sitting at your computer, IMing your friends and telling them to look at my blog because of the amazing feat of reading I accomplished today. Now, I really hate to ruin people's illusions of me (so long as the illusions show me in a positive light). Really I do. However, in an attempt to stay honest, I feel that I must mention one small fact. At least two hours of this block of time were spent in an unconscious state. Apparently my lack of sleep had caught up to me and compelled me to take an extended nap.
5:16 pm
I am woken from my nap by a phone call from my friend Kara. She wants to know if I would be available sometime tomorrow to do "that Star Wars thing". To those of you who do not know what "that Star Wars thing" is (and I'm assuming it's most of you), we recently came to the stunning realization that one of my friends had never seen any Star Wars movie before. Ever. The conversation went something like this:
-----
"Hey Sam"
"Yeah?"
"You a Star Wars fan?"
"No"
"Why not?"
"I've never seen an episode before"
"Hahaha, good one. But seriously, why don't you like it?"
"I was being serious. I've never seen it"
**stunned silence**
"... You've got to be kidding."
"Nope."
-----
At this point, we did what any good friends would do: we immediately began plotting how we could kidnap Sam and make him watch every single episode in as little time as possible. To date he's seen episodes IV and V, and we're planning on making him watch VI sometime tomorrow.
6:45 pm
I begin babysitting my sisters (ages 6 and 5). My parents are going on a pseudo-date (a shopping trip) in preparation of the New Orleans mission trip that myself, my dad, and my brother are leaving for on Saturday. Once my sisters are in bed for the night, I pick up Hitchhiker's Guide again.
9:10 pm
My parents get home, I stop reading and mess around on the guitar some.
10:30 pm
I finally decide to stop being lazy and register for a blog here on Homeschoolblogger.com. I despise the default avatar and try to upload my personal favorite; then I realize that it's on the other computer. Darn. I upload a placeholder for the time being.
10:51 pm
Apparently, this is when I started typing up this entry. It is now 11:51 (by a weird coincidence) and I have spent precisely one hour working on this post. I am now aware of the vast amounts of time this blog could chew through, but I'm planning on keeping it anyway. However, for now my dad is yelling at me to go to bed, and I'm inclined to do so (I still am a bit sleep-deprived from last ni... well... technically, this morning).
Well, this has been a fairly typical day in the life of David. Comment if you would =P
