Sep. 8, 2008 - Today's Simple Woman's Daybook (9-8-08)
Outside My Window...the sun is starting to burn off the morning fog. It's going to be sunny and in the mid-seventies today.
I am praying... for a former pastor of mine (only in his 50's) who has been in the hospital since last Tuesday with pneumonia, kidney stones, and a urinary tract infection. He also has diabetes. He's not doing well at all. I'm also praying for his wife and his kids.
From the kitchen...
I've decided NOT to assign a meal to a certain night, because it never seems to work out when I do it that way. I'm going to make a list of meals and choose from these for the week.
*Beef Stew
*Chili and Cornbread
*Chicken and Biscuits
*Chicken and Rice Casserole
*Homemade pizza
*Fish and potatoes
From the schoolrooom... We read our first lesson in our science book, did the experiment and this week we're doing some lap and notebooking. We'll also start learning about the Lousiana Purchase and Lewis and Clark.
I am creating... (or trying to create) an organized and smoothly-run home and homeschool.
I am going...to homeschool gym class on Tuesday morning, to visit my grandma on Tuesday evening and Thursday is the first day of a dog agility training class Levi is taking with Truman.
I am reading...The Little House Cookbook, Created For Work (Practical Insights for Young Men), and in my Bible, several passages pertaining to wives, women and homemaking.
Around the house...I need to dust and clean the bathroom.
One of my favorite things...the fresh, clean smell of sheets and bedding that have dried on the clothes-line.
One of my favorite people... is Audie. I'm not just saying this because it's the right thing to say, or even because he reads my blog. It's really true. Sure we bug each other like every normal couple, but he is the best friend I've ever had. He is steady and stable and kind. He gives me space to dream, room to grow, and gently pulls me back down to earth when I start getting carried away. He is my earthly rock. We love to work together, play together, talk and joke and laugh.
What I've Accomplished Since Last Week: I got back into the habit of using the treadmill and weights!
What I Hope to Accomplish This Week: Continue to exercise. Continue to follow our routine, work out the kinks and get into a good rhythm. Also, fine tune my meal planning and bake more (bread, muffins, quickbreads, granola bars, etc.) to cut back on the grocery bill.
Here is picture thought I am sharing...
Our humble abode. This January it will be 3 years since we moved here. This picture was taken 2 years ago. It still looks the same, except that the hickory tree is still green, for now. I'm sure it will be changing soon enough! To read what other simple women have to say, or to join this meme, click here...

I like the book Created to Work. My son liked it too and I was so impressed with how he took it in as we read it each day.

Sep. 8, 2008 - I love your house and property
Posted by neverathomemom
I love how you have a lot of yard and a lot of tree area too. How much property do you have?
We assign a weekly menu to choose from too. Deciding by the day didn't work for us but crossing off the list for the week is working well.
Blessings for a wonderful week

Hi Stacie,
Great Daybook - I like the orange/brown combination and I see you changed a few of the headings - very nice. I like how you put what you accomplished down - it's easy to put down plans, but quite another thing to carry them out sometimes. I need exercise too - I'm really not looking forward to hiking next week. lol The dog agility thing for Levi & Truman sounds fun. And your house is cute - what a big yard too - a lot of good running room for a boy and his dog. :)
In answer to your question, our oldest has hit the typical teen stage of spending a lot of time in front of the mirror, but she usually wears modest skirts anyways - the benefits of modest friends & a lot of good Franklin Springs videos with positive peer pressure. :) Our youngest wears skirts sometimes, but they seem to like to dress up for the first day of school without coaching from mom - probably because they know mom will take pictures -- meanwhile, mom just wears the same ole barn clothes day after day. lol I did buy a new skirt recently, but now I need a top & shoes to go with it. lol

Hi Stacie,
I'm borrowing a few minutes to blog. :)
Hope your week is going Great.
I enjoyed reading your post.
We are alike in some ways.
I also have a weekly, instead of a daily plan for meals.
I dream of having a house like your humble abode.
I want to congratulate you on your exercise routine.
We are to do P.E. this year. With every thing else going on, it's not easy.
Blessings,
Michelle
Sep. 10, 2008 - Contentment....

Stacie, so nice to hear the contentment in your typing storkes...so many women these days are unhappy, bitter women wishing away the days of their lives at home...just waiting for the babies to grow up so they can go back to work and have a 'real life' again. So glad that God has brought you to such a sweet place in your relationship with HIm~for without Him, does anyone know true contentment?? Keep up the great work, sounds like you are having a super week!
Blessings,
Kristy

I see we have a few things in common! We also are using the Young Explorer Series, starting with Astronomy. The children love it!
We recently moved out of the city and into the country. Our dream is to homestead more proficiently with each passing year. More baking and using food we have grown from our garden is such a bonus! As this is all new, I am sure it will just take time.
Blessings to you and your family!
