Sep. 28, 2008 - Simple Woman's Daybook 9-29-08
Outside My Window... It's been raining for 3 days, so many of the leaves have fallen off the trees. It's supposed to be sunny today. I hope it is.
I am thinking... about the week ahead.
I am praying...for lots of things. For Paul in boot camp, for Pastor Dave and his health, for my brother-in-law Bill who works for AIG and has some decisions to make about his future, for my friend Nick who is getting married next month, for Levi to feel better...and so much more.
I am thankful...that my work is at home.
From the kitchen...this week's options include - scalloped potatoes and ham, chicken and biscuits, Fish and rice, shepherd's pie, spaghetti and meatballs, and homemade pizza.
From the schoolrooom...I'd like to keep reading about Lewis and Clark, and then start our notebook pages, but last night Levi was feeling pretty sick, so we'll just have to take it day by day.
I am wearing...blue yoga pants and a brown, long sleeve t-shirt. I am fighting a cold too, so I slept in and I'm still in my PJ's.
I am creating... a relaxed, peaceful and happy home.
I am hoping... this cold Levi has and I'm fighting is short-lived.
I am hearing...the crows cawking outside, the hum of my monitor and the clacking of my keyboard.
One of my favorite things...hot soup when I'm sick. Last night it was Campbell's Vegetable Beef with Saltine crackers. It reminds me of when I was a kid. Such a comfort food!
One of my favorite people...
Well, here are two of my favorite people, but today I'm talking about Caroline. I love how hard-working she was, and how faithful she was to her husband and her children. She had a gentle and quiet spirit, and still remained a strong woman who could stand up for herself and her family when needed.

Yum! Scalloped potatoes and ham sounds delicous! Will you share your recipe? I love the Ingalls Family, too. We visited Cuba, New York this summer - Charles Ingalls' birthplace and I was disappointed that there wasn't a monument or plaque or anything to mark his connection to the town.
Have a great week!

LOL, love the picture...you look great, Truman makes me laugh! Bichons are such cute snowballs. Our nighbor has one and my mom sometimes thinks she wants one. I agree, Caroline is quite the woman! A great series that usually makes me cry - the sign of a great show.
Hope you and Levi get feeling better soon. It's too early in the season to be getting sick. Another nice thing about homeschooling, school can wait until the student & teacher are feeling better. I have soup twice in my menu this week, such a great comfort food when the cool weather sets in.
Take care!!! And thanks for all your fun & kind comments. You are definitely a favorite friend!

Just love your pic of Truman! Our Schnauzer, Maggie, likes to lay on top of our couch, too. THEN...when you least expect it she'll jump onto your head! lol

Seeing that picture of Caroline and Charles brings back memories of my childhood. Whenever I was at my grandparents, I always watched Little House.
Hope you two feel better soon.

Hey Stace!
I hope you guys get to feeling better soon! We saw you Saturday and next thing I read is you are sick... what a bummer way to start a week!
I am so encouraged by your hard work as a home-schooling mama! On top of the wife/mom duties/chores/responsibilities, you are also teacher... not to say moms don't teach their kids... I am just so amazed at all you accomplish in your home! I could def take some notes.
I also love that you posted this link on facebook... it will keep me coming back to read!
TTYL!
