I have decided to tell the story of how we started therapuetic foster parenting and how we will eventually adopt children. It is a rather long story so it will be in several blogs instead of just one. As most of you know we have two children: ds age almost 13 and dd age almost 6. Well, we waited for five years before we had any children of our own. We were setting in Sunday School class at our church one Sunday and our SS teacher was talking about how they felt God leading them to be foster parents. Her and her husband both had worked for DHS for years and she was getting ready to retire. Their adult kids were against it and let them know about it. Their kids said they were to old to be starting over again with kids. She had just had her fiftieth birthday. Well, while she was talking I felt that God was telling me that we were going to be foster parents also in the near future. I said, Oh Lord, if that is what You want us to do then You will have to be the one to tell Handsome because as You know he doesn't even want any kids of our own. (We didn't even have our own children yet). Now, Handsome loves kids and is great with them but from the beginning, even before we were married, he told me that he didn't want kids. I told him that I did and when I got ready to have them then I would let him know. I asked him why he didn't want kids since he was so good with them. He said that he was selfish and didn't want to share me. I could understand that and told him so but told him that I still wanted kids eventually and would still let him know when I was ready to have children.
