Mary's insane life
Jun. 28, 2008
my missions trip to Dearborn, Michican!!!

So, we left Sunday (June 22) and we drove for two days.  There were 10 people total in the Van.  8 kids, 2 leaders.  We arrived in Dearborn, and we had a pre-breif with a man named Douglas.  He was been a "worker" for God for many. many years.  He explained a little about Islam to us, and gave us some facts.

Then, on Tuesday the 24, we went to one of the parks in Dearborn in the center of a Muslim community.  it is mostly Yemeni people in that section.  We helped another church with a concert at this park, and we got to experience persecution face-to-face.   an Imam, a Muslim pastor-type figure was yelling at a little girl to leave and she wouldnt.  She really gave all of us strenghth.  She was so brave.  :)  it was exciting.

On Wednesday, the 25, we helped re-pipe a house for a family of Muslim Backround Believers (MBB's).  The mother was having an alergic reaction to the calvanized pipes. so we did that, and we went back to the park.  the same little girl was back, but had gotten beaten up by another little boy, until Big Brother came and saved the day.  (she fought that kid back)

Thursday we visited an Iraqi Mosque and a Yemeni Mosque and we learned a lot about Islam.  (it is very confusing)  we each got a Quaran as well.

Friday we finished re-piping the house and the park got rained out, so we passed ou tracks around the neighborhood.  I was threatened as i left a house, but looking back, i believe it was only grown men acting like stupid idiots.  Please pray for these men with me.

That is an over-all view of my trip to Michigan!!!!

Oct. 3, 2008 - Hi!

Hey, I just hit random blog and saw that you just visited Dearborn. I am just about 5 minutes away from Dearborn. That's so cool! We often go there to get some really yummy arabic food. We were just there last week and I told my husband that there was no point in going to the Middle East when you can just go to Dearborn. It's just like being there with all the ladies in their full gear. Whenever I go out, as a white woman, it is strange because I am now a minority. Wherever I go there are Mexicans, African Americans and Arabs and it's almost weird to hear someone speaking English(OK the African Americans do! LOL) Last December I was in Toys R Us and there were no Muslims there. It was weird because there were tons of blacks, whites and Mexicans, but Muslims are so common now that I actually noticed. Then I was like, duh, of course they are not here. They don't go Christmas shopping! LOL
