On the Up and Up

I'm so glad the seasons of life change.  Things are doing much better for us since my last post.  Nobody's sick...hooray!  I feel great in my second trimester.  We are all caught up financially since Brian's pay raise.  Hallelujah for that!  I have secured a midwife who I will have a home birth with (a tough thing to pull off after having three c-sections).  I was having a lot of trouble finding a good christian midwife.  So we are driving two hours to get to this one in Mississippi who is excellent.  I will be getting extra prenatal care and back up with a local OB and CNM.  We all just got on my husband's medical and dental insurance.  I have always had a lot to be thankful for, but this just continues to add to the list of all the things God has provided for us.  Thank you so much, Father.  And thank you to my husband for being such a hard worker!

The little fellar(I think it's a boy) in my tummy seems to be doing well so far.  I pray God gives a safe delivery and a healthy baby.  I'm getting ready for another year of homeschooling soon and I know I want to be more organized than I was last year.  I'll have two to formally teach this year.  I may teach Lauren(4) how to read along with teaching Jacob(6).  I know she would love it, but Jacob likes the one on one time with me.  Ian is almost self taught in science, geography and history.  He reads anything in the house he can get his hands on in the subjects.  It helps to have a child who loves to read.  I hope Jacob enjoys reading as much.  Anyway, I think I'll stick with Abeka for math and phonics, spelling and language.  I like the Considering God's Creation series for science.  We already have a lot of elementary history books we can work on together.  For writing assignments I like to go to google pictures and ask the kids what they would like to write a story about.  If it's dinosaurs we google pictures of the topic and copy and paste the pictures to a story book page I have already formatted and then we print it out, then they have to write a story about the pictures.  We also like to write emails and letters to friends and family.

Anyway, things are looking on the up and up and that's good!

The Rain in Spain Falls Mainly on My Head

I think the Lord is trying to teach me something lately.  I start to wonder especially when everything in my life seems to be going wrong.  I don't believe in luck, but if I did I'd be sure to know I've run into a string of the bad kind lately.  It's the finances, it's the kids, it's my brain, it's the flat tire (I dreamed the week before we'd have...weird, huh?), it's homeschooling(what to do next year, how to get organized), it's the house(it's a mess!), it's the pregnancy, it's the church(or the lack of going to one), it's the bad news we keep getting in the mail........

Call it complaining...call it what you want, but God has not been smiling on me lately nor does He have to and that's a good thing.  I've learned a lot in the last week.  Never get a credit card!(let alone nine!)  Never live above your means even if it means buying the store brand instead of the brand you like.  Never be permissive with your kids...ever!  Never procrastinate!  Get organized and disciplined or life is going to run you over.  Plan ahead for unexpected expenses(like two years ahead).  Sell all that you have before allowing your family to go into too much debt.  Anyway, my lessons learned go on and on...  And yes, I have realized all this before, but sometimes I need to be reminded.

Thank you, Lord, for putting up with me and reminding me to get back on the right path!

What's in your toilet?

Yup, that's what I said.  Actually, I should have said, "What's in your bucket?".  I started my week off with a bang at the ER for a debilitating (sp?) headache caused when my pregnancy related vomiting shook hands with non-stop coughing.  This pain in my head lasted for six days and I had enough, I needed relief.  They gave me nubane.  That helped for a little while, then the nightmarish headache returned along with three lovely days of not keeping even a sip of water down forget the meds.  I was like a little helpless baby in my bed with my husband and friends taking care of me and everything.  Oh, my flesh hates that!  On Tuesday, my husband went to a homeopathic store and bought me some drops for my vomiting.  I took the drops and ever since I've been doing better and able to keep things down.  My headache is still here, but it is dull enough that I can handle it without having to be in bed all day.

Thankfully, my bucket has been empty for the last day and a half.  Yipee!  I'm still weak and dizzy ,but I think I'm over a hump.

One thing I've learned:  You can definitely take for granted the ability to get out of bed and take care of your family.  Lord, teach me not to complain when I can get up and do the things I need to.

Continuing to get better, but keep me in your prayers...
