Hubby and I just got back from spending 5 days in Cancun.  My sis and her hubby were celebrating their 25th and kindly invited us along for part of the trip.  I made it through the pre-trip stressout, worrying over the children, and the kids did just fine without me (is that a good thing?).  The weather was perfect and the water gorgeous.  Here are some pix.

These beach beds were very comfortable.                                                                        This was my husband's favorite place.

This and that

Posted in Family Life

School went peacefully today.  Not much to report- except we got it done .  Peter has been asking to do grammer again (only a homeschooler will ASK to do grammar!) and thats the only thing we missed, because....well...I forgot.

Oldest daughter and her cousin come home tonight.  Their flight arrives at 11:50pm and I'm regretting offering to pick them up.  I figured its easier to stay up an extra 2 hours rather taking them there in the middle of a busy day.  But, that was before my 4 yr old had me up much of last night.  Ugh.

She's Leavin' on a Jet Plane

Posted in Family Life

Today my eldest left for LA with her cousin Trevor.  They've gone out to visit their other cousin Marcus and his new bride, Brittany.   Marcus and Brittany are DTS leaders with YWAM.   I'm sure they will have a fun filled, busy week, but I'll miss my little girly.

Here she is with her newest Sari (she loves traditional Indian and Ren clothes). Another cousin sent it to her from India as she was passing through on her way to Thailand (she's also a DTS leader with YWAM)

This is her from Sun.  She has a Salwar on, but you can't see much of it.  I think she either got from a friend or at the local Salvation Army store (thats where she got her first one).  I'll have to  get a proper picture of it when she gets back because the embroidery work is quite beautiful

Monday Morning Drama

Posted in Family Life

I was reminded last night that the boys did not have writing class this morning.  This made me SO happy.  Its become a real pain to rush home from dropping middle daughter at school only to rush back out again to get the boys to their writing classes.  Usually, the lady who runs this group is late which, in turn, makes me late getting back home to help out my youngest daughter.  I feel that I start every week out behind and in a hurry.  So this morning I'm revelling in a calm start to our week.   I can actually get things done that are normally put off until Weds. (Tues. mornings are also hectic).   Catherine, Peter and I begin with learning about C's Nativity Icon.  Thanks to Prisca's blog,  I found a nice explaination to read with them.  We also learn about St. Catherine of Alexandria. (yes, I realize that I'm a few days behind ) .  We move onto our "official" History program and so far I'm enjoying a old-fashioned, homeschool moment...

It is all interruppted by the sound of feet storming down the stairs.  What I assume was a very recently awakened and dishevelled Dorothy comes storming into the room.  Hair flying, eyes on the verge of tears, "MOM!!" she wails at me accusingly,  "Why didn't you wake me up, now I"m late for class!"  She swirls around and storms up the stairs to get ready.  I'm taken aback.  I didn't know I was supposed to keep track of her schedule too .  But I guess, since I'm the mom, its all my fault.  , Right?    I chuckle to myself  "I was under the impression that she was an adult now".  I offer to help her out by starting up some breakfast and  try to keep my mouth shut about who's fault this actually is.  After a few minutes of wild running around, she gives up hope of making her 10am class.  Life goes back to calm.  Our little mini-drama is over, but I'm still shaking my head and smiling to myself over this one.
