Dec. 29, 2005 - Oh the Pain!
With three boys (one being a baby), homeschooling, a home business, working part time in the evenings and of course all the day to day "stuff", getting to the gym is pretty much impossible. I really miss working out (I'm a former certified fitness instructor and was very active in sports). So, I gave up on trying to get to the gym and decided once again to workout at home.
I've been wanting to try the workout with an exercise ball. So with a gift card that I received from Christmas I purchased an exercise ball and a workout video to go with it. I did the workout for the first time yesterday. It was not a hard or complicated workout. I even wondered if it was enough.
Well, let me tell you, from the widespread soreness that I'm experiencing today, I don't think there is a muscle group that I missed. GREAT WORKOUT! I really like using the exercise ball. It helps to isolate muscle groups so that you work them more efficiently. I can't wait to do it again tomorrow.

What video did you buy? I am interested in a good workout that I can do at home. I need to get back into shape and have waited way too long. I am sure that any kind of workout will put me into pain! I've never worked out with a ball, but have heard great things about it. I have never been an instructor, but before kids (and with the first two), I always made it to the gym. That was years ago, before homeschooling and two kids ago!! : )

No, I don't speak spanish fluently, but it makes for a nice greeting.
Thanks for taking the time to comment on my blog. I added you to my friends list as well. I was wondering about something that you said in your comment about pastor led churches. Do you believe that the bible does not support pastor led churches? Since we hardly know each other I don't want to put you on the spot too much, but it intrigued me.
I will pray for your homeschool organization. I am the same in that if I don't have a well laid plan, we accomplish nothing.

Dec. 30, 2005 - Hi Annemarie!

I was deceived for a long time at a church that we were members of for 7 years. It’s quite a long story so I won’t go into all that but I will try to explain what I believe the Lord has been showing us since then. These are things that I believe to be true but in no means am I closed to hearing from others because that’s what happened at the place I just mentioned. We (and they still do) believed that we were absolutely 100% correct and NO ONE could tell us any different. I don’t want to do that any more. God uses us as a body to bring life, encouragement, reproof, correction, etc. to each other.
So having said that, I will try to explain more about what I’ve researched about pastor led churches. When searching the New Testament for an example of what “the church” is suppose to be you don’t see any examples of the “church building” (even when there were 3000 added in one day). “It wasn’t until after 300 AD, when the church fell into Roman apostasy, that “cathedrals” began to be built”. (quote taken from Andrew Strom’s The Secrets of the Early Church). In the bible they met in homes and held open-air meetings every day in public.
Most churches today are run with a senior pastor as “the man of God”. Trying to sum this one up in a few short sentences will be hard. The examples we read about in the N.T. almost always refer to elders (plural). Even the time that Paul was preaching in Acts 20:7, the word preach also means discuss, dispute, reason. This leads me to believe that the people weren’t just sitting there listening. They were able to talk with him, ask questions, discuss things. When they were in public preaching in Acts 5:25, it was several of them that were teaching, not just one person. I just can’t find any examples in the N.T. of one man being placed over the people. The church has been divided into clergy and laity. So basically one person gets put above all others which closely resembles idolatry. The people become spectators. In Matt. 23:5-12 it speaks about Jesus telling His disciples that they are not to be called “Rabbi” because you have only one Master and you are all brothers. Not to be called “teacher” for you have on Teacher, the Christ. So many people seek titles today and desire to be lifted up in a position.
There is so much that I could write and references that I could give you, but time doesn’t allow me to do that right now. I can give you a few references that you could check into if you would like. As I get time here and there, I can also put some more info together for you.
It’s okay that we just met and you are asking me these questions. I don’t feel like you’re putting me on the spot.
One of the booklets that explains quite a bit and includes scriptures is Andrew Strom’s The Secrets of the Early Church. You can read it online at:
http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~revival/secrets-ch.html
It’s a work that is already written and saves some time on my part. I don’t believe these things because he wrote them. These were issues that the Lord had been putting on my heart and his booklet confirmed what I was already studying in the bible. I hope you don’t mind me referencing it.
Like I said, please feel free to correct me anywhere you feel I need to be corrected.
Your friend,
Debbie

Thank you for taking the time to type that all out. I went over to the booklet by Andrew Strom, which I was glad that you referenced. I am still in the process of reading his material so I do not have a response to it yet, but it is definitely interesting stuff. If I don't get back to you on this BUG me, because I really do want to think and study this stuff out.
I'll be back.

Thanks for posting a comment to my blog. I've added you as a friend and hope you will do the same.
I saw that you are struggling with finding a workable plan in your homeschooling. I will try and post some articles to my blog www.homeschoolblogger.com/floridahomeschooling soon on that topic.
In the meantime are you a subscriber to The Old Schoolhouse Magazine? If not contact me and I would love to send you an issue for you to try out. This has helped me more than anything in my homeschooling. I too have three little ones and planning is a must.

I'm trying to work on getting some exercise in every day as well, and dh got up early to go to the gym yesterday. I had an exercise ball until one of the kids attacked it with a pin. I didn't exercise with it much, though; I bought it to go to a prenatal exercise thingy that I didn't end up doing. I do feel so much better when I manage to exercise. My goal for today is to trudge through the snow, er, go for a walk with the kids.

Oh, that's funny (about the kids attacking the exercise ball). Trudging through the snow is great exercise! It doesn't really matter what kind of exercise you're doing, as long as you're doing something (and doing that something with the kids is an added benefit).
My children and I are going for a walk today too but I have to say it won't be in the snow. It's going to be around 75 here today (Florida).
To help me schedule a workout time everyday, I'm using Fit TV. I have them email me when the workouts come on that I want to do. It's nice because I don't get bored with the same workout. I can choose a different one every day. The one yesterday used the exercise ball. Yes, I'm sore again today. It really is a good workout. I have one scheduled for today, but we're going to walk instead. I put the two younger boys in a double stroller so that adds to the intensity of the workout. Our walks are usually around 3 hours long.
Have fun in the snow! Sometimes I miss playing in it and going sleigh riding.

Thanks for visiting my site. I am new at this, but it looks like alot of fun. I bought a ball and video several months ago. I so badly want to work out but time is the problem. My girls have been using it quite a bit because I put it on their schedule for PE. They love it.

Thanks for the fun read, and for posting over on my blog today. How are your days going? Feeling a little more peaceful?
I have to say I reeeeaallllyy didn't want to read your entry about working out because I have SO fallen off the wagon! I was doing great 6 days/week until school started and I have to say I find it very difficult to fit in an hour's workout. Any suggestions? If you go to my www.preschoolersandpeace.com site, you'll see our current schedule posted on the Charts page. Would you be willing to look through my day and show me where and how I could practically fit this in?
Thanks!

Feb. 14, 2006 - finding time for yourself
Posted by berrymorin
I know what you mean about finding time for yourself and everything else. It can be difficult especially when you work. I work as a Virtual Customer Service Rep at home between lessons. I've recently started taking a day off to run errands, make doctor appointments and such. It really has helped, on so many levels. I feel even rejuvenated when I return back to the phone.
I have an exerise ball too. I actually use it after my shifts to stretch out my back.
