You may remember me asking for prayer last year for my friend Nancy who was diagnosed with cancer. They had to go to Houston to see the specialist. The diagnosis was bad and the prognosis was even worse with Nancy being given as little as 3-4 weeks with Stage four cancer.
As well as conventional treatments Nancy took several natural suppliments to combat the cancer and in November 2008, just before Thanksgiving, she was declared cancer free. We had planned a trip to see them in December while we were in the states but between financial pressures after our move and my Mom needing our help with Grandpa's house, the trip was cancelled at the last minute.
In the spring she had a routine check that discovered a few cancer cells in her lung and two small spots on her brain. She chose to fight it all naturally. No chemo, just herbs and diet.
I got an email update this morning of her Caring Bridge site. Her precious husband Max wrote to say that Nancy fell asleep for the last time on earth yesterday afternoon and awoke to dance on the streets of gold with her Lord and Saviour!
It hurts to write those words because it seems to make it true to say it. My tears are flowing very freely this morning and there is a HUGE part of me that wants to jump in the car and run to the airport right now to be there with them.
Nancy was one of the most precious friends I have ever had. We went through some difficult situations together when she lived over here. She was there for me soooo many times! She supported, loved, scolded (gently) and instucted. She lived a life of faith and she was a true Titus 2 woman who took this (slightly) younger woman under her wing and taught me soooo much!
She was also the first woman the Lord brought into my life who had more homeschooling experience than I did. She taught me so much about teaching my boys.
I will miss her so much it hurts already! I have missed her being here day in and day out these past five years, but she was on the end of the phone and we spoke once every couple of weeks. Usually looooong conversations as we shared our lives and what God was doing in us. She prayed with us about this house and longed to come and see it for herself!
Nancy will be missed by many. She touched so many lives and has made all our lives infinetly better for knowing her and loving her.
Please pray for her dear husband Max and her four boys Marcus, Garrison, Joel and John David. It is John David's birthday next week and he is just going to be ten. He is one of McGee's best friends and far too young to be without his Mom.
The funeral is going to be on Friday morning so please pray for this dear family as they say their final 'Goodnights' to their precious wife and mother. Also as they adjust to life without her. She will be missed greatly by all but especially by these five men who loved her so deeply.

Goodnight Nancy. See you in the morning.
