Work Day

Warning: If you have already read If You Give a Mouse a Cookie to your toddler a zillion times, this will seem like a repeat.

All I wanted to do was wash the curtains in my bedroom and bathroom.  Honestly.  I don't know how these little tiny jobs turn into three-hour projects!  I took down the dusty curtains and threw them in the wash, then hung them on the line.  In five minutes they were ready to be hung up again.  But then I thought, I should really wash these windows first.  Before washing windows, though, I needed to move the horizontal blinds, cough, cough, sneeze!  Better clean those, too. Upon further examination, the windowsills needed a good scrubbing. So I did that. But what is the point of washing only the insides of the windows, when the screens and the exterior of the windows contain 20% of the dust in the surrounding desert? Off came the screens, and I began scrubbing. The girls saw what a fun time I was having, and pretty soon I was out of a job,  Tom Sawyer style.

I know you're curious. Why are all the girls matching? They were planning ahead for a game of tag in the dark last night, which they did, with Kristy's kids and their friend, Mackenzie.  No, Alizona and Booklover are not twins. And yes, Emily seems to have a conviction against wearing a pony-tail in her hair.

The crowning moment was when my kids THANKED ME for "letting" them help! (LOL! I love it.)

(Please pardon the veranda floor... we've been meaning to get to that for two years now...)

Now, why didn't that work for me when I was cleaning behind the range (wall, floor, sides, under microwave) this morning. Good job to your girls!!! And hey, you look so skinny in that picture (and your hair looks great from the arial view).

We moved the old range out in the middle of the kitchen floor and Jeff replaced the dead heating element so my oven is back in action for only $45.

Thanks for your condolances - we woke up to 1/2 inch of snow & it keeps snowing on & off, but it's melting too - thankfully. It's more like fluffy rain. :) Have a good weekend!

Yes, I ought to be fair! Dear Husband was very handy to take the stuck screens out and put them back in. Thank you, Dear.

Yes, that was my first question--why all the matching girls? You answered it of course. My mom made us all matching dresses when we went to WA D.C. (I was in the 8th grade, my sis in the 7th, my other sis in 3rd, and my little sis 18 months). My 7th grade sis about DIED. She NO WAY wanted to be seen with us all in matching blue sundresses (that's what made me think of it, since yours are in blue). Oh, my MOM had one, also! (How about you?). LOL

I thought it would be fun, because I didn't really care what I looked like. But my sister--ooooh...she burned, but of course went along with it (she was the peacemaker). I don't know what would have happened if I hadn't wanted to do it. I was the stubborn one.

Anyway, we got LOTS of looks standing in line to tour the White House--and I ate up every moment of it. I think my sis wanted to dig a hole and crawl into it. Hmmm...I should try and find a pic and post it in an Archive blog. That would be fun.

Oh, yes....I'm afraid Amy will have to enter her OWN comment in the next giveaway! ROTFL! But "mom" can enter, too, if she likes. You know, hasn't she already won a book? And she thinks contests---like lightning--may strike TWICE? :-)

I bet she hopes I run a "cover contest" or a "guessing" contest. Oh, that's right! She won the guessing contest. LOL

When there is a cover contest (not part of the world-wide bloggy giveaway) there are not as many entrants.

Hmmm...I need to think of a guessing contest or something that requires skill. Got any ideas?

I love contests, and my publisher gives me the books to give away, so all I have to fork out is postage.

Do they hire out?

A little work is good for us all! My kids were out weeding with me today. Your children look like happy little helpers, too.

I love a clever mom who teaches her kids that housework is fun.....

What's wrong with the veranda?

And I want to play tag in the dark! But there's no dark here in the 'Burgh. Wah.

Wow! Do you hire them out? (Just kidding...sort of...) ;-)

Our screens need to be cleaned SO badly. We still have all of the 'fluff' from the cottonwood trees stuck in them from last year! Maybe I'll let my kids read your blog and see if they catch the 'hint'. :-)

Blessings,
Michelle
