Urban Homesteaders and Homeschoolers
May. 1, 2006 - Going to the Dogs!

Today has just been a "Dear Lord, Why?" kind of day--especially this evening. I can't even explain it--it was so bad. My mom managed to shanghai my day yet again with her dog problems. Sigh. I am now officially anti-dog. I am tired of the neighbor's Jack Russell Terror constantly barking and running out into the road. I am tired of going for a bike ride and having somebody's dumb dog chase me for several blocks--teeth-bared .

I kid you not, early one Sunday morning, I decided to follow my Dh's bike route for a change of pace, and was nearly attacked by a dog. I peddled so fast that my gears were practically smoking, all the while letting out a blood-curdling scream to wake the dead or at least all the neighbors. I called the police, and when the officer came, the dog charged after him. He said the dog was lucky it didn't get a shot right through the head. And, do you know where the owner's were while their beast was roaming the neighborhood? They were sitting in their church pew. Apparently, they haven't gotten to the part in Exodus concerning animals that endanger human lives and their owner's responsibilities. Of course, that was concerning a bull's goring someone to death.  We certainly can't extrapolate from this example, concerning dogs. Anyway, enough ranting about dogs, and I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I know there are some good ole dogs out there, but they sure don't live around me. All we have are unruly beasts here.

However, this morning at least I was able to get my 1G8's standardized testiing done, so our school year is officially over as we have reached 180 days of "state-approved learning". I've told my children that they may now turn their brains off and enjoy their vegetative state until August. LOL Actually, Dd is supposed to do one page of math each week-day during the summer

Yesterday, I disbudded the twins--our newest baby goats. Thank heavens they are both girls, so I won't have to worry about any other 'operations'. Dh held each of the three older kids so that I could tattoo their ears and give them their shots. Fun for all involved, I assure you. And if you buy that, I've got some oceanfront property in Arizona . . .

Sounds like you have had quite a day...and debudding goats...that sounds like no fun whatsoever! Thanks for stopping by my site. I will keep everyone posted on the morning glory house. According to the package, it will be a couple of weeks before we start to see the plants begin to grow.

The Pride and Prejudice type: Truly an Austenite,
this type is a Romantic at heart, but they
always keep their head and are wary of
melodrama. Lively, clever, and independent.
These people are easily amused by their own
foibles and the quirkly foibles of others.
They lament society today, and dream of the
time when guys were gentlemen and girls were
ladies.
