Urban Homesteaders and Homeschoolers
May. 8, 2006 - Zoo on the Loose!

Today was knock yourself out in the garden, and let the animals run loose day. Since my Dh is now on summer break, I asked him to build me a new raised bed garden, so that I would have some place to start my new seeds that were to arrive today in the mail. I had put in a late order last week for a few exotic vegetables that my local stores don't carry, and my other three raised bed gardens were already planted full. I thought that my Dh only had enough boards to build one garden. Was I surprised when he came out of his workshop with not one, but three new gardens!

Three new gardens to place and fill. While I was digging what little compost the chickens had left behind, 2B6 decided he wanted to hold his rabbit. Mind you, he hadn't bothered with this rabbit in a month or more, but because I was busy and distracted, suddenly he wanted to play with him. The next thing I know this bunny was out and digging to China--or freedom. We're not sure which. After sensing my indifference to his predicament, evidenced by my nonchalant shrug of the shoulders, as in "it seems like a hopeless business. What do you expect me to do about it?", my 2B6 took matters into his own hands and did finally manage to catch the runaway bunny again. We can all rest easy now.

Then, the neighbor kids came to see our new kids and ducklings. As they left, we noticed that someone, (2B6) had let the buck out of his fence, so we had to chase Romeo down before he got a chance to woo Juliet, a.k.a. "Bambi". Fortunately, Midnight,  Juliet's mother, doesn't want anything to do with any Montagues, and firmly butts Romeo away whenever he gets too close to her daughter. What a day! Shakespeare would be rolling in his grave . . . or laughing hysterically.

P&P
The Pride and Prejudice type: Truly an Austenite,
this type is a Romantic at heart, but they
always keep their head and are wary of
melodrama. Lively, clever, and independent.
These people are easily amused by their own
foibles and the quirkly foibles of others.
They lament society today, and dream of the
time when guys were gentlemen and girls were
ladies.
