Tea Time (Feb. 15) Friday, February 15, 2008 We made our monthly visit to a local nursing home this morning, for a Valentine's Tea Party. Ryan and his playgroup friends handed out the valentines that they made last weekend, visited with the residents of the home, and enjoyed cakes, cookies, and tea. After several months of visits, the little ones are getting more comfortable and acting a little less shy. Ryan was particularly sweet this month, giving each resident a hug along with their valentine, telling them his name and asking their name.
Tyler and I had a fun school day. We worked with a science kit about acids and bases, put together the tank model that he started painting last week, read stories that correlated with our history lessons from the past two weeks, and discussed and made tesselations for math.

What a fun Valentine's Day activity and great monthly community service project. It is great to see young people serving older. Monday, February 18, 2008
How wonderful to do that each month. I tried it once while living in Va Beach, but the kids were really small and it was very exhausting for the residents. Maybe now that they're older, we may try it again once we return to the states! Wednesday, February 20, 2008
I keep wanting to go to the Nursing Home, but I'm just plain lazy about it. I need to call the activities director and do it!

My kids love to go to the nursing home, and we don't go enough. The residents are always so delighted! | Welcome to our world! I'm the homeschooling mommy of three beautiful, noisy, messy little boys. We've been homeschooling from the beginning. We also run a home daycare and do preschool activities daily. This blog is a photographic chronicle of the highlights and joys, trials and troubles of our journey through life with our "dirt magnets".
