It's Only Natural (March 28)
Friday, March 28, 2008
The boys really enjoyed their visit to the Natural History Museum at K.U. last summer, so when we got the opportunity to go again, with Ryan's playgroup this time, we signed up right away.
Here is Ryan, with a couple of friends, examining the diorama from above.

This visit was almost as much fun this time as it was the first time we visited - only "almost" because Ryan decided to be terrified of a large bald eagle and ran away crying. He then refused to go near that hallway again, so we missed quite a few interesting displays.
Ryan and Tyler did especially enjoy the dinosaur exhibits, as well as the predators and prey displays.

They also enjoyed watching some of the more active snakes - and Tyler took the time to look closely at each snake to determine whether it was venomous or not.

The turtles and tortoises were definitely a hit, too.

Ryan enjoyed learning about all of the animals, but was particularly interested in the small birds. James, on the other hand, was most excited about the fish.

James' favorite part of our trip was definitely "Bug Town". He especially enjoyed peeking through the windows of the crawl-through worm tunnel, although he wasn't quite brave enough to go through himself.
Here he is playing peekaboo with Tyler through one of those holes...

Ryan loved the bug room, too!

Tyler makes a great praying mantis, doesn't he?
